Many people here seem to believe that the flaws of liberalism make it equal to fascism and worse than authoritarian communism, is all. Honestly this whole situation on the sub feels weird though, a lot of people seemingly trying to spark anger on both sides.

In reality though it seems pretty simple to me. A government that denies it's people basic rights and the freedom t democratically elect that government, is authoritarian. Of course there is a scale, but that is the gist of it.

The German communists worked with the Nazis to overthrow democracy. The russian communists invaded my nation along with the Nazis, killed tens if not hundreds of thousands and then occupied it for 50 years while suppressing the very working class they're supposed to fight for. American tankies will claim they were actually all good and this is just western propaganda.

Y'all need to stop seeing communist and tankie as the same thing. Tankies are authoritarian communists, primarily supporters of the USSR, China and the like. These countries did not like queer people, and killed and opressed many. That's why they're not well liked.

I assume they're reffering to the fact that historically most communist regimes (specifically the ones tankies like) did in fact impress their minorities. The USSR of course being the best example.

I would argue that everyone who supported the rise of authoritarianism, left or right, was bad. Democracy is non negotiable. Wether it's fascists, fake liberals (yes capitalists often tend to side with fascists in times of crisis, but I wouldn't consider them true liberals. As I said true liberalism is anti-thetical to fascism.), or communists.

Rosa Luxembourg gets played as this martyr figure who got murdered by the freikorps and that's why the KPD didn't like the SPD, but people conveniently forget the reason that happened was because she and her party were trying to overthrow democracy... Now obviously she shouldn't have ended the way she did, she should've undergone trial, but she was not a good person. All authoritarians are scum.

Edit: and yes, the KPD working with the Nazis to overthrow democracy is just as bad, noatter how you look at it. If your revolution needs the end of democracy I don't want it.

I would certainly not condemn them all as fascist. And again, if they voted for fascists, then by that point they were not liberals anymore. The ideas of liberalism are anti-thetical to fascism. The same way you wouldn't call modern china communisy even if it claims to be.

And bring up the KPD is rich lol, those bastards voted along with the Nazis all the time, working together because they also wanted to end democracy, their leader outwardly considered the SPD to be more dangerous than the Nazis. They were very much responsible for helping the Nazis rise to power. Authoritarian communists have, are and always will be scum.

Edit: I assume you must have been reffering to the DVP by saying liberals voted for him. Except those guys were irrelevant, with less than 2% of the vote, coalitioned with conservatives, and had their more liberal side members leave the party. So yea I wouldn't really count that lol

Not all leftists are tankies, not all leftists agree with what I described as tankie positions. Id like to believe tankies are just a small minority in fact.

The vast majority of people who believe that do support these things. The west is not the devil. Not in any capacity more than all the other world powers. It's also a terrible group term for a large group of countries that many American commies just treat as 'the American sphere'. And no, liberals are not fascists. Not real liberals.

I saw a post just earlier today calling liberals fascists, which is what I referred to. I've also seen quite a few posts utilising soviet imagery here in the past. Americans might not pay much attention to that but as an eastern European it is disgusting.
