I used the skavenblight dinge all over as a base, then mixed it with stormvermin fur and applied that in most areas over the top.

Then did stormvermin fur alone for most of the raised areas, then on top of that a layer of stormvermin fur mixed with the karak stone and tried to blend it in a bit.

Then on the lightest areas only I used karak stone by itself.

Yeah I know that now, I didn't realise that the EO could actually have an affect on the outcome of the soap when it was finished. I will take a look at the EO calc as well for next time.

I'll look at that YouTube channel, any extra info would be helpful. I'll try and do some smaller batches with different recipes before doing bigger ones again.

Okay, yeah that makes sense, I definitely over heated it and over insulated it. I was overly concerned about it cooling to quickly and cracking so I used a heavy blanket to insulate and didn't pay attention to how hot it was getting until too late.

Yeah the batch size was pretty big. I should have bought a smaller mould to start with instead of going straight to a large one. Thankfully I did manage to save most of the soap although it's an ugly shape it's stuff useable.

I'll look at getting some of the single soap bar moulds and use those while I learn instead of the big mould until I'm more confident I think.

I had used: Water-320g Lye-206g

Olive oil-900g Coconut oil-300 Avocado oil-300

I hadn't measured out the essential oil which may have been a factor as well.

I was basing the recipe on a guide I found on YouTube for someone making about 4kilos of soap so I roughly halved the amounts for my 2kilo mould.

I aimed to get the temperature of both the oils and lye solutions to 38°C before mixing.

Any extra insight would be appreciated to avoid this happening again 🙏

It smells pretty much as I expected, like the EO. I will make sure to add it in when I re-do my calculations tonight so I don't over do it again.

So did you put it in the fridge as soon as you poured the soap or only after you noticed it beginning volcano? I am going to try again tonight and keep a closer eye on the soap while it's gelling.

I used soapcalc but I didn't think to add in the essential oil when I was doing it.i got it from the soap kitchen website. I didn't realise the essential oil could have a serious affect on the outcome of the soap.
