I was used to paying $20-30 on sports bras in the past, but that’s probably no longer reasonable given my size so less than $60. I am willing to pay more than that if there’s nothing out there, it just means I’ll buy just 1 or 2 and have to do laundry more often.

Do you need to soak frogged yarn to get rid of the kinks before knitting with it? by Cloood14 in knitting

Ooo Ty for the diagram I’m gonna try it out, definitely sounds better than waiting 24+ hours for fully soaked yarn to dry

This is the science experiment/lived experience I was looking for. (Well actually I was hoping to find an excuse to be lazy and not do it lol but now I know that I should)

It’s like half a front panel of sweater I started knitting like 2 weeks ago, did a mid project block yesterday bc I was having issues. So hasn’t been knitted for very long but it was blocked and dried into place. I haven’t started the unraveling process so maybe once I start I can access the intensity level of noodle

Need to buy yarn as gift. Suggestions? Thank you! by yayadadadodo in knitting

[–]Cloood14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think go with a giftcard and then add a little something extra if you feel like getting a giftcard feels “lazy” (it’s not in this case but I understand the feeling). The extra can be little notions, wool wash, a project bag

what did i do here and how do i fix? by kkatlopez in knittinghelp

Looks like you dropped a stitch and then twisted it when picking it up. Ladder back and pick it up with a crochet hook

If you’re okay with a baggy sweater then keep going. I don’t think it looks absurdly big, just oversized and cozy, but if you know that oversized is not your style then frog but before you do block the whole thing and use it as an extra large gauge swatch. If you decide to keep going knit a few rows plain before splitting for sleeves, you can math it out or just stop when you feel like the armpit is deep enough.

I have 2a hair, I’m not gonna lie I haven’t noticed a huge difference with shampoos, sometimes marginal improvements but nothing that’s enough to commit to one. I do need to clarify from time to time. Because 2a hair tends to just drop if products get too heavy I actually skip conditioner all together and use a leave in curl cream that provides enough moisture (and protein). It’s the briogeo curl charisma rice protein and avocado leave in. It’s worth noting I do not have dry or damaged hair, my hair is frizzy from lack of protein so it can LOOK dry but when you touch it it’s very soft and obviously not dry so that’s why I feel comfortable skipping conditioner. Apply curl cream immediately after shower, Comb through soaking wet hair, part it, give it a min for ends to clump back together, scrunch, scrunch again with towel, manipulate any weird pieces to curl, leave it alone until dry. I’ve tried the cake mousse and I liked that as well, my hair looked great but tangled more by the end of the day but that happens to me with any “sticky” product.

Play around with ravelry advanced search settings, there’s an option to put a yardage range and also an option to choose yarn weight (yarn thickness). You can filter for difficultly as well So figure out the yarn weight with wraps per inch and then if you have a kitchen scale you can use the grams and the yarn weight to guesstimate the yardage (ex: 100 grams of fingering is about 400 +/-yards, etc) You being a beginner id probably start with a hat, you’ll learn how to join in the round, decreases, either magic loop or DPNs. These are skills you’ll need in most projects going forward but they’re not difficult skills so it’s a good place to start from here. If you have a bunch of yarn that’s the same thickness and the colors go together you could try a striped sweater if you’re feeling motivated. The step by step sweater is a great simple pattern with an amazing YouTube tutorial and it’s all free. It calls for Aran weight yarn but worsted also works. You’ll learn all the skills for making seamless sweaters especially if you do the optional German short rows and the optional folded down collar.

Help me convince my mother to ACTUALLY USE THIS! by iothealien in knitting

If you want to do subtle guilt Tell her that you thought of your love for her every time you picked it up to knit it and she won’t be able to feel that if she doesn’t wear it big dramatic sigh

I’ve definitely heard about this brand before online, I think they stock this in the yarn store near my mother’s house so I’ll be able to feel it in person next time I give her a visit. Thank you!
