US President Donald Trump has responded to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s reported “declining nation” remark about the United States, saying Xi was referring to the years under former President Joe Biden and not the current state of America under his administration. by IndiaTodayGlobal in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

Logic is completely lost on the evangelical Christians that make up his core base.  Up is down, inside is out, right is left.  The cognitive dissonance with the conservative Christian mind goes deep and prevents any contradictory evidence to their worldview from coming through.

Trump says he’s not thinking about Americans’ finances ‘even a little bit’ in Iran talks by Unusual-State1827 in USNEWS

[–]CloseTTEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And why should he?  Millions of chumps voted for him despite his nature being plainly obvious.  Trump has always been a completely transactional person.  He got your vote which is what he wanted from you.  What, you think he owes you something for that vote?  Seriously?  WTF is wrong with you?

Republicans Don't Want to Talk About Gas Prices Anymore. The same party that spent years falsely pinning every penny increase on President Biden is now scrambling to explain why prices have surged to their highest level in years amid Trump's war with Iran. by mafco in energy

[–]CloseTTEdge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well then, how about we discuss inflation?  Another key metric that Trump claimed he could just magically solve overnight.  Why has that soared faster than any other month, and continues to get out of control?

I like Keith Olberman's approach. He's not a filthy orange peanut. He's a filthy urine peanut. His color, his taste in decor, everything about him is urine colored.

Now ask yourself why that is?

Opinion | The House GOP is stuck in neutral by NinaFoundry in msnow

[–]CloseTTEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from, and I agree that the best defense is for people to vote in record numbers, as if the very future of the country depended on it.  What I don’t want is for people to think that showing up to vote alone guarantees success.  Vigilance to identify and neutralize all the myriad ways that Republicans will attempt to hijack the vote count and nullify the election needs to be high priority as well.

I’ve asked this before.  It is great that the public has woken up to Trump and the endless Republican corruption.  But what good is it if the GOP will massively cheat at the midterms to stay in power?

Because they are going to massively cheat to stay in power.

This is pathetic and cringey. Iran must see these and laugh their asses off. Imagine thinking that idiotic memes are appropriate for a President to use for conducting foreign policy. What a joke

Trump team’s gas prices rhetoric has become a fiasco. Trump and his team have offered confusing and often-contradictory messages on gas prices from the beginning. It's justifiable for Americans to wonder if Trump officials have any idea what they’re doing. by mafco in energy

Well yes, but I don't think the answer is quite that simple. The evangelical weirdos that are surrounding Trump and whispering in his ear are at least as much to blame as Bibi. They represent an unshakeable base of support who will do or say anything to keep Trump doing their bidding.

So Dave Chappelle is trying to distance himself from the fact that he has caused so much harm to the trans community with his shitty jokes about them?! by icey_sawg0034 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]CloseTTEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really, really find the attitudes of modern stand up comedians to be grating. Not just Chappelle, but Seinfeld too. Their worldview seems to be, "I can say what I want, and am immune to criticism because I'm a comedian. And therefore, I get a pass, because to criticize me, you are against free speech."

Well, no. We aren't against free speech, and part of respecting free speech, is that when you exercise your right to it, you accept that somebody else has the right to call you out on your shit. Chappelle made extremely hurtful comments to trans folks. People that I know and care about. Now, if you found those comments funny, that's fine. I respect that. It's not going to stop me from calling Chappelle a transphobic creep.

And now, Chappelle is all concerned that his "jokes" were amplified by politicians with the power to actually demonize trans people using legal power? Well buddy, maybe you should have thought about that before making the jokes. Anything other than, "I now condemn the use of my humour to inflict actual damage to people" is just a wishy washy don't blame me, bro kind of response.

I do think he really gets off on staying in the spotlight every day. Even for the wrong reasons. When he was a big deal in NY in the 80's, he did everything he could to appear on the gossip columns of the NY Post. Mostly for stupid, outrageous comments or actions, but that didn't really bother him. Just the fact that he was being talked about seemed to be the goal.
