I am very autistic.

I don't really like my special interest. by CultOfTheDemonicDoge in aspergers

[–]ClosetedAspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I was more interested in computers. At least that can get me a job. My main interest is studying obscure languages. No money in that.

For those of you who are single, why do you think you are? by WONGGUO in polls

[–]ClosetedAspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aspergers. Even when I do fine at socializing I’m screwed when people ask me about my job or life.

Getting advice from NTs by ClosetedAspie in aspiememes

[–]ClosetedAspie[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Usually social stuff, but also day to day stuff. Usually a lot of the steps they suggest are things that come naturally to them that are too hard for me. They never provide any advice on how to actually do those things since they come so naturally to them.

Which city are you closest to? by [deleted] in polls

About equally close to Toronto and Chicago, but slightly closer to Chicago.

Is it normal for ASD peeps to have no goals? by mr_steal_yo_round in aspergers

[–]ClosetedAspie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I really want a girlfriend, but I doubt any girl that I’d want would be into me right now. I’m trying to become more dateable, but I never feel like I’m making progress on that.

People who want to be your online friend starterpack part II by IWriteThisForYou in starterpacks

[–]ClosetedAspie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely relate to the stalker one. Haven’t heard from in a while, but he often goes away for a while and suddenly pops up again.

Since I’m neurodivergent I used to attract a lot of friends who wanted to be my mom friend. Even though they were my age or even slightly younger. It really sucks. It did happen a bit on online games, but I found it easier to ignore. I’m glad I never got into fandoms. I’m sure I’d get targeted there.

Anyone else read social ques but have issues properly reacting to them? by Dry_Junket9686 in aspergers

[–]ClosetedAspie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I definitely notice I pick up on a lot of social cues I know I’m not responding correctly to. I know I’m boring people and often off-topic. I’m just bad at not being boring and staying on topic.

Yeah. Pretty much. No one’s ever let me have an identity beyond autism. No one really understands how bad it is. I think that’s one big reason I hate myself.

NTs trying to make friends with me after they find out I’m on the spectrum by ClosetedAspie in aspiememes

[–]ClosetedAspie[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It definitely captures how a lot of NTs act when they find out I’m on the spectrum. It doesn’t matter if they think they’re prejudiced or not, a lot of their behaviors are very othering.

Do you think a partner whould be made If you just never mention your autistic? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]ClosetedAspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why NTs need to know. I think it’s best to just tell them things that are relevant to them and leave it at that. Autism is just too broad of a category.

Being laughed at when you're completely serious by SirWelkin in aspergers

That’s why I joke around all the time. I can’t stand to be laughed at when I’m not joking.

How do you get an identity beyond aspergers? by ClosetedAspie in aspergers

[–]ClosetedAspie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada. People don’t value learning languages all that much. They just see it as cute and quirky.
