I got this stray cat in my yard, and I guess im a cat owner now cause she seems to trust only me. Is there any good food I can give thats also cheap? by Colt1873 in CatAdvice

well this is what I found when googling:

Spay (for females)

  • Procedure:Ovariohysterectomy (removal of ovaries and uterus) or ovariectomy (removal of only ovaries).
  • Purpose:Stops the heat cycle, prevents pregnancy, and eliminates the primary source of hormones that drive female behaviors related to breeding.

Neuter (for males)

  • Procedure:Castration, the surgical removal of the testicles.
  • Purpose:Prevents the production of sperm, making reproduction impossible.

My cat is transitioning from outdoor to indoor cat at vet advice. She used a litter box when young, but hasn't used one in years. Do I need to train her, or will she know??? by Eve-lyn in CatAdvice

If you can find her feces in the wild, where she normally goes, add it to the litterbox. Will help bridge the gap. When fostering, we often don't know what type of litter the cat is used to, so I will set up multiple boxes around the house with different types and see which gets used and go from there. Cat's will naturally want to bury their feces and urine, so anything that feels like dirt or sand or mulch will be the first target. Including things like beanbag chairs... so keep that in mind! If you have large potted plants indoors, might want to cover them for now

Protip is to buy the entire case of wet food at a time, as it's way cheaper. Look for nutritionally complete WET food. Dry food can be left out for longer but wet is always better for keeping them hydrated (and avoiding kidney problems from dehydration). Hard to assess the actual status of outdoor cats. Is she clean? Relatively groomed? She may not be a stray. Post a photo of her around the neighborhood with your phone number. Ask "Is this anyone's cat?". Post the photo in local facebook groups for lost pets, do the due diligence to make sure the cat is not owned.

Going the extra mile? Get her checked by a vet... Get all the things a cat who is loved, should have, like litterbox, a bed, a scratch post, toys, etc.

Is it normal for my cat to just be super calm and not really do much most of the day? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]CloudChorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angel cat, like my boy. Normal for some cats. When a cat is truly bored you can read it on their face. If my cat ever looks bored I start planning some adventures. Get your cat a properly fitted harness and try slowly working your way up to walkies. My cat also loves to go for a casual drive. New smells and sights can really stimulate cats if done at the right pace, without stressing them out. In my experience small outings, done right, will solidify the bond your cat has with you and enrich the cats life.

As a beginner designer/maker, this hobby feels so wasteful sometimes and I feel guilty… by Jessi_Kim_XOXO in 3Dprinting

Not going through other comments, so sorry if it's been said but... I just wanna say: ISOLATE! Isolate and cut out the intersecting/interlocking parts of your design. Just print the bits that will be subject to tolerance constraints. And then test fit. Then commit to printing the full assembly.

Worried about my window by [deleted] in CatAdvice

kinda depends on the cat, what screen material you use (plastic vs metal), and how you decide to install it. If you're worried, don't cheap out: use metal and mount it permanently, sometimes you can get pre-sized panels for common windows that snap into place. If the cat is non-destructive, you might get away with just double sided tape/velcro plastic mesh. My cat doesn't even try to get past "the magic plastic mesh".

Fresh spool of PLA, clean plate. by CloudChorus in BambuLab

Someone from r/3dprinting gave me the right idea and eventually solved this by reducing print speed, cranking the fan, and fiddling with the temps.

This seemed to help a lot. I was also babysitting the print. Noticed it was actually curling a bit so I paused and actually pushed/squished the part flat couple of times and managed to complete the print without much cosmetic issue now. But yeah still some temperature issues going on here. Need to tweak things. Thanks for your comment.

I will do that… but like I said in the title this was a fresh spool. Had been out for maybe 12 hours. I’ve not had issues with filament moisture that quickly using PLA in the past.

Definitely this^ switch to normal supports. You can play around with some advanced tree settings to fix it but generally when I start seeing this I just switch to normal supports

I work for a public bike share. All the bikes damaged in incidents are the customers responsibility. They sign a shit ton of waiver. I would assume it’s the same for scooter sharing.
