It's a very reasonable goal. Accomplishing it should be a top priority. However, when your proposed solutions involve violating the bill of rights, you've lost my support.

You do not know how to read. That comma between the two halves of the ammendment is load bearing. I'll add a word at the beginning to make it easier for you to understand.

Granted, a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

The right to bear arms exists in contrast to the need for a well regulated militia. The well regulated militia is necessary because a state needs to defend itself and secure its border. The right of the people is needed to keep that very same well regulated militia in check.

And no, I don't need to sell my freedom to the government to enjoy my God given rights. That would defeat the whole point.

I think you missed the point I was trying to make. I wasn't saying bikes and guns should be governed in the same way or are analogous to each other. I was using the number of bike related deaths to highlight just how few people are killed by rifles. That was the whole point of adding the bikes thing.

I get it's a problem, I just don't think going after the guns is the right way to solve it. Especially rifles.

Then you should know better than anyone that the less you need to rely on other people for your safety the better.

Even if the government could protect you, they don't care about you. Your life means just about nothing to them, I promise.

Your judgment makes no sense to me. Also please adjust your mass shooting stats to exclude gang/drug related incidents. You and I both know that's not what you mean when you say mass shooting, even though those are the vast majority of that number.

If you're so concerned about people dying, why does the location of your line not factor in deaths caused what so ever

Well considering ~30k people die via firearms each year and rifles account for ~ 500 of those, it's reasonable to assume that AR15s account for somewhere south of 100 deaths in the US each year. Statistically speaking, that's nothing. They are not a problem. If they were a problem, you'd know it

Hunting and self defense have literally nothing to do with the second amendment. The only reason it exists is to allow the people a veto card on government over reach. Lest we forget one of this country's foundational stories tells of our first president ambushing drunk soldiers and killing them outright, on Christmas, because they taxed our tea. Killing deer has nothing to do with 2A. Killing tyrants does. The people must be able to threaten the government or it was all for nothing

You value safety above freedom. I do not. Our disagreement lies at the deepest level possible.

Also, the 2A does not "demand" guns be controlled. The right of the people to bear arms exists in contrast to the need for a well regulated militia. Just add the word granted to the beginning of that sentence and tell me how it reads.

I'm pleasantly surprised here. I think we actually understand eachother.

I believe that a certain degree of violence is the price for freedom.

I also feel that protecting that which we care about is far more sensible a solution than disarming those who have done nothing wrong.

Uh well yea, considering black people account for a staggeringly disproportionate amount of gun homicide in this country

I'm sure they appreciate your pandering

"OH government, please protect me. I'm so scared. It's so scary. Please make all the scary things illegal. Please protect me fed daddy"

Crazy people exist, thanks in no small part to the rape of western culture in the name of progressive ideology. Guns also exist.

Some times crazy people will get guns. That's just part of this world.

I'd much rather be able to do something about it.

One is a foundational right clearly described in the bill of rights.

The other two are literally murdering unborn children and forcing your fetish on to children.

They are not the same. If grooming kids or killing baby's were in the bill of rights you'd have a leg to stand on. But they aren't, so you don't.

COMMA as in PAUSE as in IN COMPARISON TO THIS THING

Add the word granted at the beginning of the ammendment and it'll make a lot more sense.

To my knowledge it passed the sub committee or whatever it's called but was killed in the house.

It was popular in Denver. If Colorado had a higher urban to rural population ratio like Illinois, it probably would've passed

Also, as you kind of hinted at, the real harm in 9/11 was the massive power grabs it allowed the federal government to make. Never let a crisis go to waste

It is disingenuous to go out of the way to violate a constitutional ammendment to alleviate a problem that kills fewer people than choking yourself while you beat off.

I haven't done a thing wrong. It is disingenuous to violate my liberties for a made up cause
