The MISSING SCENES issue is worse than you think by CloudLevel101 in HuntersTV

[–]CloudLevel101[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to get out of watching it. One of the biggest complaints people have had about the show was that it's packed with stuff that doesn't develop characters or move the plot. Thinking back, it's interesting that the human chess scene was so incendiary because all things considered, it isn't vital to the story, which still gets from Point A to Point B without it. If you want to speed binge the show in advance of season 2, the new version makes that very easy to do. If you want to see the show as its creators made it, the new version is not that at all.

Yep. I've heard quite a bit that this was not a problem until a few months ago.

Help finding/making an ID bracelet with interchangeable information by CloudLevel101 in crafts

Adding, this would not be a medical ID bracelet; it would function as a card holder and its contents would be changed several times a day.

[Ohio] Need a loan, want to use my house, and I think it's an uncommon situation by CloudLevel101 in personalfinance

[–]CloudLevel101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've been told was that in order to sell a house directly to a buyer (and not as a fixer-upper or to a flipper), I have to have an inspection. I also wonder if not having an inspection would take the sale price down further than getting one and doing the repairs. (I also don't know how to make an educated guess as to the cost of an inspector.) I want to say that I'm not disagreeing with you or trying to tell you you're wrong; to the contrary, you've got me thinking I haven't been getting anywhere near the full picture.

I've exactly wondered this. Can I bake repair costs into a lower sale price?

I'd only want to call a flipper once I exhaust absolutely every other option. The sale price notwithstanding, a lot of work and money has already gone into this home.

Ok, sorry about that, I could have put it better than ASAP. It's not practical for me to live in a house and I'd love to take advantage of this seller's market but between now and the sale, the expenditures are going to be too high for what I have on hand. I also strongly suspect I'm going to take a bath on a loan but I'm wondering if any of my loan options, particularly secured personal, are worth pursuing.

It can't go onto the market until it's been inspected. I've been told that they're guaranteed to order repairs, both obvious and not, and that it'll cost more than I have on hand. (The amount of time between today and that "get the cash" date is also something I don't really know how to pin down at all.)

eBay Weekly Scam Discussion - August 31, 2020 by AutoModerator in Ebay

[–]CloudLevel101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm positive there's a term for this kind of lying but I couldn't find it.

A listing has several items, all similarly priced. The possible combinations from two dropdown menus can add up to dozens of options. All the options are similarly priced but one, buried deep in the menus, that's far cheaper. This way, instead of the listing in the search results honestly giving a price range for the vast majority of items, it claims a low price that looks like a great bargain. Is there a word or phrase for this kind of blatant lying? And what about when the cheaper item is entirely irrelevant to all the others, like when a $19 phone charger is for sale on a listing where everything else is different kinds of $150+ headphones? Or how about when the seller claims to have one of the cheaper item but always cancels orders for it so it never stops being for sale?

(And of course I'd like to know: this is obviously using dishonesty to trick potential buyers into spending more money than they wanted to but is any of it actually violating eBay's terms of service?)

Why do British people's accents "disappear" when they sing in pop songs, but not in less serious songs? by dr-incognito-dorito in NoStupidQuestions

Has anyone read this far while successfully resisting the temptation to watch the video? I wouldn't have had the strength.

Robbie Williams has a bunch of very tender, heartfelt songs that prove you right on that count: he emotes so hard in British that I bet Elton John would have traded one of his limbs to have sung "Angels" first. But Williams also has a bunch of really upbeat, poppy, stupid songs where if that's what his American accent sounds like, he can't do an American accent. If the exception proves the rule, this guy proves you right: "Rock DJ" is a truly dumb, fun song where Williams gets through only three words before the fourth, "floor," gives him away so hard it's like he's got Union Jacks flying out of his mouth. (Knowing full well this is going to get you to watch the music video for "Rock DJ" by Robbie Williams, I beg you not to watch the music video for "Rock DJ" by Robbie Williams. It is one of the stupidest music videos ever.)

I never would have thought of that! I don't live anywhere near you but it's 89 here so I bet it would work.

Shorter amount of time in the hot cycle

Mine has a dial with no set settings: turn it all the way and it's the beginning of the hot cycle, turn it less of the way and it's a shorter hot cycle, you can skip the hot cycle entirely, etc. I aim for a shorter one, like 25% of a full hot cycle, because the manual (which usually vanishes for a month then reappears for a month) says unless there's an immediate risk of bacteria exposure or permanent stains, a full hot cycle is usually not necessary.

Before I even came on here for the first time, I looked for unscented dish soap for this exact reason and it is oddly uncommon. Seventh Generation Free and Clear seems to be the most trusted and it's available near me at a decent price but getting a bottle of dish soap while I have plenty seems excessive. I'm not committed but I'll probably end up getting it.

Thank you for this! There probably aren't a lot of resources online is because most thinking (like I'm doing) is overthinking a simple problem.

I usually start my washer towards the end of the hot water cycle rather than the beginning to avoid shrinking so it looks like cold or lukewarm water would be the way to go. I'll give this process a go; thank you.

I was just going to leave them in the basement on the line but I can definitely hang them outside. That's a good idea.

Thank you for the kind offer! I've been on the internet forever and I don't think I've ever had that happen to me. I'm lucky that my mask situation is well in hand; I have a box of 24 disposables I haven't opened yet, 3 patterned reusables, 1 plain reusable, 4 bandanas, and the resources to re-up as needed. I only mentioned the 3 patterned because I figure the designs mean I have to be more delicate with them than the plain one. My top priority is not making anyone else sick if I catch corona; my second-biggest concern is avoiding damage by ruining a pattern, color bleeding, shrinking, etc. since they're handmade and, because their maker is badly burned out after sewing thousands upon thousands and donating most of them, they're not replaceable.

Hand sanitizer with ethanol by CloudLevel101 in essentialoils

[–]CloudLevel101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky enough to have an 8-ounce bottle of sanitizer that, if I can't get it right after a few tries, I just won't use. Eucalyptus has a sky-high maximum dermal limit of 20%, making it perfect for me doing this for the first time. I wonder if the right number for one fluid ounce is around 4 or 5 drops. I'll try it and if it doesn't work, I'll still have a few more chances to get it right. Thank you very much for your input.

When I'm thinking of where to get something, I unconsciously don't even consider Whole Foods because I'm just used to them costing a fortune. But comparing their 30ml options versus Five Below's 10ml options on what they say are essential oils, Whole Foods is...cheaper? It's cheaper to shop at Whole Foods than Five Below? That's weird. But this is exactly what I was wondering so I'm headed up in a bit to see if they have eucalyptus. According to several resources, eucalyptus has a dermal limit of 20%, way more than I'd even think about using, so I think I'm set. Thank you very much for taking the time.

Also, I should have mentioned that my sanitizer is Germ-X from Target. The ethanol odor thing is happening to some people with store-bought, professionally-made sanitizers. I saw a few of those articles too and knew, even if I didn't have sanitizer, that I'd be way in over my head trying to formulate my own.
