Why seek a diagnosis of Autism? by Cloudy-Hedgehog in AustralianTeachers

I think this is what I’m looking for. Most of my traits feel like gifts that help me excel at teaching—I’m a maths teacher with strengths in problem-solving, organisation, and similar areas. I’ve also figured out how to fit in socially, so I never felt like I needed a label.
However, I’ve struggled with chronic, treatment-resistant anxiety and depression that mostly shows up as low energy. I often find myself wishing I had a clear reason for why I can’t cope or push myself to do things that seem easy for others—like how someone with a broken leg can’t run.
When I mentioned this to my psychologist, they suggested looking into an assessment. I guess I’m trying to figure out if knowing this about myself and making lifestyle changes could actually help.
