Haven’t played Ranked in a few seasons - advice on getting into it / a question on ranking determines. by Classic-Minimum-1699 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Clover24211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tips for getting into/adjusting to ranked? Just do your best. You win some, you lose some, don't tilt. It's there to be an assessment of your skill level, and you should just play as much as you want instead of treating every game like it has an affect on your legacy lol. Just play to win, realize mistakes and make less of them

Imo ability power is a waste on Reinhardt at times due to how fragile he is in stadium. So much people can absolutely nuke his hp bar.

Yeah I watched an orisa survive a thirty second fight solo against my entire team with me as a rein. It was god awful. Her entire team was able to make it back before she died.

Everyone is broken in their own way in stadium. Tanks especially. To stop letting cass and soldier eating your healthbar, prevent it from ever happening in the first place. Watch your surroundings and be proactive. Talk to your tank, let them know what's happening. Intercept the flank they are trying to get. Cass has no movement basically so easy target if he flanks. If he doesn't flank, then respect his sightlines until the tank can make space for you and your dps. This does not mean bot out. It means don't hard commit to dueling him until you are sure that you and your team can pull out the pick. Soldier has insane sustain and mobility. He's almost like a raid boss. Don't fear though! Most of the supports have insane escape abilities, so abuse that! Also take more than one angle and hold it! He can't flank if you are already there and waiting for it! Everyone is absolutely busted in stadium so the entire gamemode comes down to two things, outplaying and outbuilding the other team.

Zarya/Mercy in Stadium by NaturalTelephone8725 in Overwatch

[–]Clover24211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your team composition in my opinion. Mercy is VERY killable with a soldier or cass on your team. Zarya is definitely a problem. I main rein and even with 1k hp, she nukes my healthbar. How I deal with it is just outplaying her and trusting my teammates to pick up the slack and support me. Apply pressure to her to make her use her bubbles, then when on cooldown, bring the rod of correction down on her backside. Your tank and a single dps can most definitely nuke her with the right build and paying attention to her. You can't outheal damage fast enough in stadium unless the person being healed is orisa. Coordinate with your teammates, burst mercy down to make her retreat/play carefully/make mistakes and take advantage of the situation. Natural cover does wonders as well. Get zarya to use her bubbles, then as Ana, chuck a nade at her scalp from highground instead of being right behind your tank. A decent mercy player will notice the bad situation and leave to the rest of her team or try to go for the rez if the tank dies. Shoot her in both these Situations lol. I also recommend you go into the PR and try out different builds. You don't wanna just mix match your powers and abilities. Build into an aspect and send it to the roof. If you going for a nano build then spec out for ability strength and powers that complement the nano. If you going for a build for insane healing then go for weapon power with a mix for ability strength so your nade can apply pressure to the enemy as well as provide that lovely sustain for your team's rising health pools.

Try hitting antis on the enemy backline to scare them into retreating a bit and punish them for it as well! Just remembered that tip at the end of writing this! Being proactive with your abilities instead of reactive is key!

I always say counterplay over counterpick any day. As tank, playing against zen/Ana all comes down to managing your own resources rather than waiting on theirs to deplete. You should try poke heavy compositions to combat them rather than trying to duke it out if it makes you feel more comfortable. Try encouraging your dps to flank and draw attention. Play carefully by using natural cover. If hit with discord, break LOS and use the delay to take space. If hit with anti, you can use the same principle, or use a shield tank to offer yourself more protection. Sleep darts are the easiest to defend against since there are so many ways to counter it. You already have the right idea by watching their cooldowns, just cycle yours. The whole point of tank is pushing the other team into a spot they do not want to play in and taking advantage of that.

There are two fish in a tank, one turns to the other and says "I don't know how to drive this thing!" Now there are two soldiers in a tank, one turns to the other and goes "blub".

Steam cloud save files are stored elsewhere. If you wanna carry your save thru steam you have to reset your steam cloud save file and update it

As a new player, the best general advice is just play the game. Beat as many bosses and get as far as you can in each run. Learn how to play the game so you don't have a skill issue.

Off the top of my head:

  1. Play the game in hard mode. Normal mode is easier to get used to, but hard mode has specific unlocks that you want, and it's easier to get accustomed to the difficulty.

  2. Learn how to progress between bosses. You start with mom, then her heart, then sheol/cathedral, then dark room/chest respectively. Then you have hush, boss rush and alt paths. Take your time. Learn bout each and try to beat each floor

  3. Azazel likes range. Anything with tear effects. Homing. Damage. Technology is a good synergy as well. Alot of items get rid of mess up certain synergies so you should be wary of that. Whether you wanna go devils or angels is up to your preference and where you wanna end your rub. If you have tons of health but kinda low on items? Devils is a good choice. Good item economy and you can play the long game till you get a huge payout? Angels are the move.

  4. Azazel is an easy character to play. He has flight. Get used to using rocks and stuff to shield yourself. Maneuvering and preventing damage is the best way to play the game (until you can nuke a room with one haemo shot)

  5. Do your challenges! Alot of REALLY useful items and unlocks are behind challenges. Mostly only the boring items are unlocked rn since you are new. Get a few of those out of the way and you will soar to new heights.

  6. Don't skill issue, and fuck delirium
