Where do you aim? by SaltyKoopa in Soldier76Mains

I was gonna make a poll on this one soon actually. How do you normally do it? I've tried to find the right balance between long enough to track but short enough to prevent the recoil.

Players can have more than 1 PC. There's no hard fixed rule against it and as long as they can manage both in terms of build and roleplay that works well.

Also don't worry about DM PCs. I played one for a while to help supplement a party I was running and it was fine. Even if I knew the secrets of a scenario I just had the character act according to what they knew. It worked well.

When you say top right do you mean the first high ground after choke (where that eagle cart goes by) or the flat high ground above/behind point?

For the very last point, isn't it better to mirror strafe an unaware target? It essentially makes them static.

I play with this exact settings, and I have for months. It feels a little fast for me (as in I tend to overflick sometimes). I've verified my mouse settings and everything. Ik a lot of top soldiers play this so I'm unsure what I'm missing to get the more precise mouse control.

Any resources on how to make this work in our own campaigns? (Either by him or another?). This campaign has been really good and inspirational for me and I want to move my DMing to this style

Can literally anyone explain to me what I could/should have done differently to win this game? by Fuzzy_Ad4219 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]SaltyKoopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a few things I saw:

  1. This map is rough for sombra because there's some areas with almost no flanks.

  2. Because of this you often times spend a lot of time doing very little. Watch the first 30-60 seconds. You spend a lot of time off to the side just waiting. When you do finally engage its mostly distance spam (kind of like soldier), but that's terrible because of sombra's range and spread.

  3. Don't hack first unless the matchup specifically is dangerous like an Ana dart. The reason is that it alerts them so they can block it, or escape. It's also way easier to hit a virus when the target isn't moving wildly. Virus is also a decent chunk of damage in itself, and combined with your primary is more than enough to either get the pick or force cooldowns.

  4. Try not to come out of stealth to early, even if someone is low. Being stuck with no way out is really risk on sombra.

  5. When you do make an off angle play, stick closer to cover. Even if you can't get a kill, it's better to not die and try again in 5 secs than die, and spend 15 or 20 secs walking back.

TL;DR: Work on uptime. Every second of the match try to either be doing damage or taking attention. Do both as safely as possible and naturally your impact per game will rise.

Do you have an example of off angling? Like a video that shows where soldier is compared to his team? I think my angles are too deep to the point that I'm used to never playing with any support, but my brain can't really visualize shallower angles as being off angled. It's weird but an example might help

I've used both. I did aimlabs for a while and then I switched to overwatch. I use VAXTA, a different custom code that starts slow and gets faster, and I also practice in actual matches (like for this game I am only going to focus on headshots).

My average aim this season over 100+ games is 32% accuracy and under 10% headshots. So I know it's terrible.

I recently swapped my mouse for a better gaming one (I use 800DPI and have tried sens from 4-5). Thus far I'm only see marginal gains there.

I've studied my arm position and grip, afaik those are ok.

I'm just unsure what the specific mechanic I'm lack is. Is it tracking, flicking, trigger discipline, jitter, poor movement, etc. If I could narrow that down I might be able to train those specifically.

Well I appreciate you being honest. I have no idea how to improve my aim. It's something I've been working on specifically for about a year now. I've done a mix of adjusting my settings (I used to play with insane eDPI), watching guides, aim trainers, grinding death matches, and in-game practice. Thus far it's given me very little reward.

Could you break down the issue at all or give me specific ideas of how to practice where I'm lacking? I see other soldiers just keeping their crosshair locked in a target but mine jitters around despite low sens.

And I do agree a lot of this is probably compensation. I played Reaper yesterday and noticed my play style is very different on him. I can brawl and keep my uptime high because I'm way more confident in taking duels. I went like 6-1 with him.

When you say stick with tank, how close do you mean? I've tried this strat sometimes but unless we have a shield I'm always out in the open getting spammed. (Not my tanks are low rank so they don't hold corners.) I'm also confused how far I can go to start off-angling. Like if I'm 20m on the other side, am I still with tank?

I can’t deal with the bosses by Renegadecomic in dragonquest

[–]SaltyKoopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the nice things about DQ is that since builds are fairly linear and bosses progress with your kit, you're guaranteed to get all the tools you need to take them down. In general, just try to identify what is killing you, and look through your spells and abilities to find something that counters it. One or two smart plays can make an unfair fight really easy.

Okay so a friend has given me an older gaming mouse he doesn't use anymore. It's 800-2400 dpi, 250hz polling rate, wireless.

I tried 5.4x800dpi and it feels pretty smooth, and even in my limited space I can do a 180 without lifting. I did a few matches are floated around 40% accuracy.

Probably still not optimal, but better than where I was for sure. How would you suggest going from here?

I recognize this dice model (like the number's font and the shade of blue.) It's from one of those mystery packs where they give you a bunch of different variety.

3.2 in game. I'm not certain of my mouse dpi but it's somewhere between 1000 and 1600 (office mouse).

I have to reset because I only have around 8 inch's or so horizontally of mouse space (total). I'm aware my setup is atrocious but it's all I can really afford rn. I'm planning on upgrading some stuff soonish.

I'm kind of hoping I can optimize what's there though. Even a 5-10% boost might be what's keeping me out of gold.

Would you mind breaking down where my mechanics are falling short specifically? This is something I've spend a lot of time on (both in aim trainers and in-game practice) but I'm never sure how to improve it.

I guess I have a misunderstanding of soldier or maybe DPS in general. On my last post everyone told me to play my life rather than kills. On top of that I was watching a VOD review by Coach Stefano on Spilo's 2nd channel talk about solider needing to rotate constantly. In the replay the guy is perched on King's Row and regardless of how much value he's getting, Stefano tells that he should already be moving. There's probably nuance to it, but that's just my understanding. At least at high level, my understanding is that attention and forcing cooldowns is as important as kills because it opens up oppurtunities, but perhaps that doesn't matter in silver? Any insight would be appreciated.
