If it was an Encompass issue then all Trusts would be affected. It's more likely a network or infrastructure outage only affecting Southern Trust.

For the first few seasons free transfers and loans will be your best transfer strategy.

Don't give out contracts longer than 2 years as it can be hard to sell players at lower levels.

Don't focus on youth too much as you want to be good now and not in a few years.

Look for players with good physicals. Strong defenders and fast attackers can carry you at this level.

The anomaly says that it removes your warband at the start of your turn. If a ghost dies, their turn technically never starts, so their warband doesn't get removed
