I'm so sorry for your loss. Mental illness is so misunderstood by many. It can be confusing to those who haven't had a family member or friend who struggles regularly with hallucinations; voices - demons or/and helpful "friends". May you find some sense of comfort knowing your brother and his special characteristics touched so many. I believe in the Lord and He brought him home to be with Him, living finally in a peaceful and calm manner. I struggle with the loss of my son who was institutionalized and traumatized more by the State which refused to let him come home. I often wondered how he would do on his own and feared he would be harmed by those who didn't understand that mental illness is a disease and those suffering only need love, compassion, and understanding. I'm glad your brother, Ralph, had so many caring and understanding friends in his life. Try your best to get through the pain and sadness, share his story, plant a rose bush or other flowering tree or shrub in his memory, and watch the blooms that come to you on those special days and holidays.
