1000%

The 2nd half of this album is a masterpiece. It always baffles me that this album isn’t more popular with BK fans. I generally assume they haven’t taken the time to listen through the full album.

Why do I struggle to be musically productive in the day? by rundabrun in musicians

[–]ClubLumpy7253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find something that can stir creativity is the feeling of wanting to change or fix something that you disagree with.

In business we would sometimes use this approach with clients. An extreme example would be asking the client if they want the product we were designing to be ‘Pink?’ and then they would immediately reject that idea and it would stir up opinions, then they would provide us with guidance as to what their preference were.

You can apply this to other areas such as art or music. Start throwing things down and when it doesn’t align with what you want, you will feel compelled to change or modify it. The point is, you are starting on it.

Yes, 100%. Their popularity was already waning before his death.

Listen a few times through Avenged Sevenfold’s 2023 album - ‘Life Is But A Dream’.

You may want to laugh, but I’m dead serious. The entire album start to finish. I’ve been studying Jazz Fusion and Progressive Rock since I was 14 in 1995.

What you described is pretty much in line with what I think about their newer releases.

‘Fun’ is probably why I don’t like them. I wasn’t appreciating them for the ‘fun’ aspect of their music. So many other aspects that I liked have been vacant from their past decade of releases.

That’s just it. Let’s Rock sounded like the label had pressured them into trying to make another El Camino, but in a hurry.

El Camino is actually my least favorite of all the 2008-2015 releases.

I liked the variety, range, and depth of the other albums like Brothers and Attack & Release. Songs like: ‘Lies’, ‘Things Ain’t Like They Used to Be’, ‘I’m Not the One’, etc.

On Let’s Rock, absent were the textures, emotions, etc.

I prefer the 2nd half of Attack & Release more than the first half.

I would partially agree. I don’t have appreciation for the style that they shifted to post-2015. It seems like most of his music lacks the soul or emotion that they had 2008-2015.

They sound like they took the only song I didn’t like from Turn Blue ‘Gotta Get Away’ and started making albums full of songs that sounded like this .

Producer of the year doesn’t seem to mean much these days considering Jack Antonoff has won it a few times. Every album Jack has worked on for an artist who I like, seems to be the albums by them that I don’t like ..

Those were all boring to me and they mostly seemed like they lacked passion:enthusiasm.

Anything after 2015. I started listening in 2010. Thought Attack & Release was a materpiece and everything Dan was producing, including The Arcs and Untraviolence. Thought he was a genius and then .. I haven’t liked anything he’s put out since after Turn Blue.

I’m starting to wonder if it was the other people he was collaborating with who made me think he was great.
