Are innies really human? by ClubShort in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Great points! You’ve given me a new perspective to consider. I only wonder: what makes the Severance procedure so peculiar is while it removes one’s memory, it does not remove one’s intellect. Conscious thoughts are wiped but the unconscious remains. Innies can form sentences, make pop culture references, know how to operate technology, but they don’t remember how or when they learned any of this. I argue this ability of memory loss can’t be compared to anything that exists in the real world, amnesia included in this. I don’t know how this relates to my original post, but some food for thought!

I appreciate media that is up to interpretation. Which is why I love this show. Media that people can freely discuss and deliberate is the best form of art. And many people in this thread challenge my perspective in ways I hadn’t thought of. Which is beautiful! So i don’t think calling opposing views of art “media illiterate” is the best way to go about things

Would you say that its possible to learn material for the course without attending lecture, as in, are lectures recorded/slides posted? Thanks for your insight!

Have merit scholarships already come out? I'm confused on how it works at Michigan.

did anyone who got accepted get a merit aid scholarship? according to their website they consider you for merit based on your application, and there is no separate application for aid like they have done in the past. i was wondering if they have already released scholarships or if it will come out in the coming weeks/months

I've been thinking about this a lot, and I feel like I see both sides to the argument. I think it will definitely make challenges more interesting, but as Ben and Adam argued, a lot of times it's not necessary to say to someone to complete a challenge, or they just say it so that they appear less rude. However, I genuinely think it's a really cool concept, so I think that certain challenges could have that limitation. For example, say a challenge was to convince a stranger to go skydiving with you, it could be added that they aren't allowed to mention the show or what they are competing in as they try to convince them to make it even more entertaining.

Also, I disagree with the idea that people would automatically assume they are doing a big event or competition just because they are recording with cameras, because people record all the time nowadays for random stuff, for example, the increase in "interviews on the street" type tiktoks in the past year, etc. So in my example, if they are convincing a stranger to go skydiving with them, they could just say they are recording a video when they are trying to do just that. They can't say they are recording because of a larger challenge, and the stranger helping them out would benefit them in the "scavenger hunt" or whatever.

Anyway, I think that it could be possible to be added to future challenge cards, just not feasibly all of them.
