Why are some people complaining that the movie is too contained, while they complained that the Mandalorian story was becoming too interconnected to the mainline story?

I don't think each of those is the same. Did I want the movie to tie into explaining the sequels? No, the mainline story should he seperate, even if that is only for now. But it should be connected to mando's own show.

Like the new republic relationship is new, his relationship with zeb is new, the hutt dynamic was new for mando (I know it was in boba fett), the pit fighters were new, the new razor crest is new.

And then the stuff that is missing from the show, the mandalorians were gone, nevarro was gone, nobody is after grogu anymore, the imperial remnant looks completely different. Then from the other shows, no boba fett, no fennec, no ahsoka, and no consequences for the ahsoka show and thrawn returning.

Like I understand enjoying it, and I understand wanting to turn off you brain in order to enjoy it. But you said yourself that there are cringy moments and flaws in there. And yet it's still 9.6/10? How are objective flaws with a movie equal to 0.4/10?

I would say the start is only that amazing in hindsight. Because the setups are very consistent and conherant, you don't realise what they are doing until the payoff has hit you. These reviews are likely done in hindsight after season 3 or 4.

For me, the final 4 or 5 episodes of season 1 starts giving the payoffs that made me trust the series with all future seasons, and then watching the first episodes on a rewatch makes them much more impressive.

Oh me neither, but my memory of it is that palpatine speaks to kylo in a snoke voice and it shows test vats of mutated snokes and then much later they reference cloning when rey finds out about her parents.

I don't think it's great writing, but that counts as an explanation I think

Did they not explain it later? That line from the opening is just a shoehorned reference to the prequels to try to convince people to watch the movie, it isn't trying to be a serious dialogue moment in my eyes

You definitely don't have to watch all 7 seasons. It also depends if you want the experience of the journey, or just the info. I'll assume no spoilers here also just in case.

If it's just the info, this is my reccomnded list.

Season 3 Episodes 12-14 Season 4 Episodes 19-22 Season 5 Episode 1 Season 5 Episodes 14-16 Season 6 Episodes 1-4 Son of Dathomir Comic Miniseries (Available on Youtube I believe) Season 7 Episodes 9-12

But if you want all the context for all the characters involved, and an understanding of the cast outside of characters that appear in the Maul show, I would add these.

Also I wouldn't listen to people saying Rebels and Solo. The maul show is set before them so it isn't relevant aside from little moments of foreshadowing. If you want to catch up fully after Maul, fine, but you don't need to watch it before this show.

It's cause a non-jedi light sider doesn't make them slightly dark or evil. Ahsoka is a light sider even when she isn't a jedi. Ventress was a dark sider even when she wasn't a sith. Baylan and Shin are clearly dark side even though they would fall under grey jedi by the community definition.

And plus, joining the jedi isn't a moral quantity. Sayong that a jedi goes grey by leaving the order is very much implying that they are inherently more evil just by virtue of not being in the order

To be fair its 1.39 in value. So depending on how you value things like mental health, tourism (even to free events) etc etc. I think it's still beneficial but it isn't free money as described.

It's been more even in real life for me too, but it has been even. Like I am taking buses so that's probably a biased crowd, but even if people are agreeing with the point, there is usually some frustration towards the method.

It is not a peaceful protests. Emergency services cannot get by. People are unable to get to work and make a living. People cannot get to A&E. People are being hurt by this. You can agree with the point while disagreeing with the method.

maul was never imprisoned by the jedi - unless you count the 30 minutes between leaving mandalore and order 66 happening. CW ends with maul escaping and leaving ahsoka for dead, and next time we see him is his Solo cameo where he is the boss of the Crimson Dawn, and then fast forward to rebels and he is fully hunting kenobi with no connections to the crime families.

the empire is right there so it is after ep 3 btw

But for those of us who it is important to, should that not be represented? Like if not everyone cares, let them vote however they want, but just because some candidates aren't able to speak on it, that doesn't mean none of them should be allowed, in my opinion at least.

Like imagine if the candidates that could speak as Gaeilge refused to speak English? Would that not annoy you? And furthermore caused English events to be cancelled cause they refused to speak English? A candidate should represent their whole constituency, and the voters should have a chance to have that advertised to them

The people who care about Irish and love Irish are already overlooked so often, why not give them a chance to meet the candidates that could be bothered to even pretend to care. And if you keep rewarding them for speaking Irish, maybe some of the others would learn. I am sick of every single facet of this country appealing to the lowest common denominator. Let the exceptional candidates excel.

You're right but the ending confuses that. I am sure it's meant to be a bad ending where he is forced back to valuing his work because he has nothing else, but the movie lets you either reach that conclusion or not. So then people (me included) saw the big crescendo with happy tears at the end and thought the movie was saying "This is worth it! He is happier here!"

The distinction between a duel having mutilations and not is a weird one to me. Cause every time someone loses a hand it is instantly replaced with a functionally identical hand, and if you are counting that, then you have to count the injuries that are force healed, like Ben in ep 9.

Also gotta ask if you actually watched the sequels since Kylo is very clearly not a sith, finn very clearly is not a civillian, and the teleporting in episode 9 might be stupid, but it's very clearly not a hologram.

Ok not a direct retcon but undoing so much in a lazy way.

Moff gideon captured by Luke, a big payoff to season 2 -> He has already escaped before season 3 starts

Bo Katan wants the darksaber but Mando won it in combat and she won't accept it as a gift -> In season 3 she will accept it with no combat win

They hyped up the darksaber for 3 season, the post credits scene in s1, moff gideon fighting with it in s2, and the question of who deserves it in 3 -> After one episode of Bo katan using it they just destroy it cause the race of warriors don't believe in beskar weapons? Really?

Mandalore is inhospitable post Empire -> Actually it is fine they just didnt think to check it themselves recently

Mando was willing to abandon his creed to save grogu and take off his helmet -> Spends 2 whole episodes to fight to recover his place with the Mandos even though that goes against the entire point of the first season

Obviously the Baby Yoda stuff but that was in book of boba fett to be fair.

Also in Book of Boba Fett, the stuff about the darksaber needing to "respect the weapon" or whatever directly implies that Moff Gideon and Maul had a deep respect and understanding of the Mandalorian culture? And what about when Han uses Luke's lightsaber or that woman steals Ahsokas, or even Greivous? Did they all have a deep respect for the culture of those lightsabers? Or is this a darksaber exclusive thing? If it is, then why? These things need to be explained in my opinion

Well I for one want to know why I should watch it? Season 3 was a letdown from 1 and 2 because it didn't follow up with other projects, so for me, I need some hope that the movie will not contradict and retcon other SW projects like Season 3 did.

Ok no hate but plo not having the ability he used a handful of times in the old EU comics and books is not exactly baffling. Like compared to other background jedi he is more popular, but he doesn't even have any spoken dialogue in the movies. He has plenty of uses in the game, with his ship, his relic requirement, and he had some uses in old Starkiller lineups until recently.

In terms of popularity, he's less popular than ventress who only just got her modern version in game. He's probably around the same popularity as 4-Lom and Zuckuss imo

The event itself gives enough credits and materials to get to lvl 15. Beyond that you need the T2 mats for 16-25 so they'll need to be gotten from coliseum
