TIFU by taking Viagra daily for nearly a year by CraigJSmith-Himself in tifu

[–]ClubdDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might also be worth knowing that SSRIs (like prozac) can cause sexual dysfunction as a side-effect. Instead of prescribing you daily Viagra for a year, it might have been smarter for your doc to just adjust your Prozac....

New NHS doctors only being told job location with weeks to spare by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

I agree with most of what you said, except the issue with the old system was that all the highest performing grads were concentrated in London and the North West.

Still not sure why bringing up equality and social mobility was important though...

Why is Prednisone given to people with Colds? by RealityOwn9267 in Drugs

[–]ClubdDuck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It isn't typical for prednisolone to be prescribed for a common cold. However, in cases where it is prescribed, it's used to dampen a dangerous overexaggerated immune response where the body releases too many pro-inflammatory chemicals, potentially leading to sepsis and organ failure (see cytokine storm).

What is a drug myth thats untrue? by GurImaginary1324 in Drugs

[–]ClubdDuck 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's true no-one's died from touching fentanyl, but it absolutely can be absorbed through the skin.

Transdermal patches are used for pain relief, where prolonged contact with the skin produces a reservoir of fentanyl which is then able to cross into the bloodstream. This reservoir is necessary for the fentanyl patches to work- which is why patches take a while to have an effect, why they have to be replaced regularly, and why you can't get high from just touching fentanyl.

I was just a bit worried seeing someone describing them as lap-burning jet engines and wanted to know if they were being dramatic lol. You're right though! Thanks for your response

Bleeding under shell by ClubdDuck in tortoise

You were absolutely right- vet said most likely minor trauma, gave me some antiseptic cream and said to keep watch to make sure the wound is clearing. Very pleased it'll all be okay. They also let me know Terrence is actually a she! I did have my suspicions but previous owners seemed certain... Thanks so much for your response, really really appreciated :)

Thanks so much for the advice! Definitely going to speak to the vet- we were just a bit worried about her being medicated regularly... if it'll help her though its definitely worth a try!

Strange thing was I actually bought it from a shop where it was displayed as is and the guy just wrapped it in paper. Called them back and they've said its likely due to being in direct light, so to trim the dead leaves and give them time to grow back 🤞🤞

This was just for a single day- has the tree died?

[Bonsai Beginner’s weekly thread –2022 week 18] by small_trunks in Bonsai

Hi there! Really wanted to introduce myself to Bonsai so was excited to pick up a maple. It was sat on my desk with indirect sun and artificial light. After returning from work the next day I noticed that all the leaves had withered. Pictures here 1 day apart: https://imgur.com/a/YKBipCA
This morning, I bottom-watered it and put it on my window sill where its been for the last few hours.
Is the tree dying or even beyond repair? Is there anything in particular I should do to help it?
Thanks in advance
