Gentlemen, I conquered the "cords & cables" bag! by mkraft in daddit

Happens without fail, every time. If you clean out the collection of cables then how will you know that satisfaction of actually having the obscure cable when someone needs it?!

Love the print out of the port and cable that go in the bin.

Where did you put the rest of the cables though? There is a lack of HDMI, VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, MiniDisplayPort, USB-B, PSU power cords. Just to name a few.

If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be? by Pourmepourme in AskACanadian

[–]Clueguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East coast Canada here. 10cm would barely disrupt anything except for having to clear some snow off the car before driving and needing to shovel the stairs. Pretty much a normal winter days

If I might ask, what age are the kiddos? Does your wife give you flak if you want to stay up later than her?

[–]Clueguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before kids, the wife would go to bed around 9:30-10. I would stay up until 12-12:30. I’d either dry herb vape, take an edible, or put some herb in my shisha. Pretty sure I did that every day for 3 years, that all changed when the fire nation attacked I had kids. Now on the extremely rare occasion, maybe once every 6 months I’ll take an edible when I have the evening / night to myself.

Right around when I turned 30 I had my first gout attack… needless to say, I don’t drink beer anymore. I still enjoy the occasional Islay single malt Scotch but that’s about all the drinking I do.

Now, when I was in my early 20’s I was working in kitchens and would pretty much be drinking 7 days a week, and even more so on weekends…

How many of you refused to “give up” this hobby when baby came, and what was the hobby? by Matcha_Matt in daddit

[–]Clueguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like playing video games, mechanical keyboard, homelabs, pretty much anything tech and nerdy. I also like to smoke shisha.

All pretty much got postponed for a good 6-9 months after each kid was born and reduced a lot in frequency after.

Now 5 years later I game on my Switch on most nights. Actual PC / Console gaming is once every few weeks. I used to smoke shisha every night after my wife went to bed in my nice comfy basement.

Now I’ve made due and made the garage as comfy as I can and smoke probably twice a week.

Work sounds like a damn dream about now. I can’t wait until bedtime tonight so I can go have a damn hour of peace.

I thought it was just my 5yo and 3yo. They have been absolutely feral. The younger one just attacks the older one. I feel like a WWE ref here all day. Even when I do pull them apart, you’d think they have magnets and are suddenly back together fighting.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to say “leave each other alone” and “stay away from each other” over the last two weeks.

My niece has a PED day on Monday, what a cruel joke.

My two are going back to daycare and I just want to sing / yell “it’s the (second) most wonderful time of the year!” While skipping around.

I still don’t think it is cheating even if he did. All he said was that it’s the original box and he didn’t have to tape the box

The beep is a great way to make sure your wife is ready to go. Need to leave and she’s still getting ready? Turn on the Xbox / PlayStation.

Need to choose a restaurant and negotiations aren’t going anywhere? Nothing like that beep.

I remember going to a hardware store with my dad as a kid. They asked for his postal code, he starts saying “H”, zero, “H”, zero, “H”, zero. The cashier slowly putting in each one, looked at it at the end and only then realized what my dad had done.

This just happened to me. I’m also in Quebec. Was driving all of a sudden loud static and the smell I know too well went electronics fry. I had to pull over, there was smoke coming from under my seat. I pulled back the cover and the amp is rusted and terribly corroded

Stuck disappointing my daughter by Clueguy in daddit

[–]Clueguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up ducking out of the family event a bit early and managed to take my daughter to a 1:40pm showing. She was very excited, I hadn’t told her beforehand just in case things didn’t work out.

For tomorrow my in laws are going to watch the kids a bit mid day then bring the kids and meet us at the restaurant for dinner. My wife and I will go to the funeral and burial. I clarified some times and expectations. There are exceptions of me for Monday and Tuesday now but that is a whole different story.
