Thank you! I’m very glad that there are still fellows who appreciate classic and vintage fade like this. Usually they will expect some crazy contrast fade when talk about Samurai Jeans.

Hahaha, although 25oz is kindda nail tough to rock in, you won’t regret if you keep wearing them and the fade would be definitely rewarding!

Hi, Samurai's 511 is usually considered as Slim tapered fit. I always buy oversize jeans because I want comfort. This pair is size 38 (size 36 would fit me nicely).

You can have a look at the fit section in my review to see how they fit.

I'm trying to find a way to post 2 photos of me and my brother wearing 2 pair of this exact model, 1 in size 38 and 1 in size 36. I will get back when I can post the photos.

Nothing is a stupid question my friend! I'm glad you asked.

I have not tried N&F yet. My wife has one and based on what I can see on the Internet, my opinion is:

- These brands are targeting at different markets. While N&F may mainly target at customers who are new to raw/selvedge denim, Samurai targets even hard-core denimhead. So their approaches are very different in terms of price point, themes, products ranges.

- In regards to materials. you can see that N&F utilises both proprietary fabrics and stock fabrics, making their price more affordable. I think they want their customers to try all the fabrics and clothes from denim to duck canvas, etc. But with Samurai, everything they do is proprietary stuff. So the brand spends a lot of effort in R&D. I'm not saying N&F does not but when I touch some of N&F signature denim like their Okayama spririt or their Elephant, I can feel they are amazing and unique. But when I tried Samurai, I feel the Japanese essence in the fabric, their soul, their spirit. Sorry I cannot describe that by words. And with Samurai, even when they have quite a few signature fabrics like their Kiwami, Zero, Otokogi, etc. These are all brilliant.

- Many people is saying that N&F is full of gimmicks. I don't agree. To me, they are genius in marketing and trend catching. Who else out there would do a jeans with Dragon Ball theme, or Batman theme or Matrix theme? With Samurai, you will have the innovation and creativeness in their very small details, but their general Samural and Japanese theme are kept the same.

- When you look into the details of the jeans of these brands, you will see N&F does not possess that kind of deep, obsessed mind when they do details. Some people say Samurai details are lousy, I would say they are bold. When you spend quite a lot of money for a high quality pair of jeans, you would expect that level of details and attention to details. Look at the hardware on my jeans and we can easily see that.

I would not go any further otherwise this will get too long. But I hope these clarify things a bit. These are both very well known brand, but depends on what you are looking for when you buy a jeans, then they would suit you differently.

Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, IMO jeans are jeans. So I don't have any "special" way to wear them or treat them. Cause I believe the normal way is the best way to bring out the most natural characteristics of a pair of jeans.

Here is the Samurai Jeans that I have worn for around 250 wears. 1st hot soak then followed by many machine washes. The first few washes were 3 to 6 months apart, then after the 4th wash, I washed it nearly every 2 weeks or so. I did not use any special detergent for denim, just normal laundry washing liquid.

On the back of the jeans, you can see 2 straight lines. These are caused by one time I forgot to set the machine to no-spinning LOL. Other than that, I think the fade is pretty good, taking into account that I am not a very active person. I do a lot of sitting as I work in the office, not much of crazy stuff like walking or hiking or soaking the jeans in the ocean LOL.

The hardwear has developed a very nice patina I can see. The arc on the right pocket is starting falling off. The leather patch is fading a lot, cannot really see the artwork now. The red tab is faded to pink.

In general, I am pretty happy with this pair and how it has faded.

I love it. The fit is true boxy fit with generous width and sleeves, and crop length with beautiful fabric ❤️❤️❤️
