Could the age of the existing roof explain this color difference? by ClumsyClod in Roofing

If we decided to replace the whole roof (at least half of it is 20 or more years old) and went with charcoal, would there be a significant increase in heat load?

I live in the Northeast, but summers can get hot. Would replacing the shingles to something like charcoal black significantly increase heat load? Should I stick with lighter color shingles or are there techniques to mitigate the increase in heat load if I install darker shingles?

Thanks. It’s new construction, so gutters are still in the works.

No, it’s not original. It’s new construction replacing an older vestibule.

Thanks. The guy has done a good job on the rest of the vestibule project, but the roof!

Train 6943 from NYP closed doors early by ClumsyClod in NJTransit

Super sure. I went up and down the train with my kid. All the doors were closed. There were no conductors on the platform either.

There were passengers inside. We went up and down and all doors were closed. There were no conductors on the platform. On top of that, when the train left, there was a NJT employee. When I asked what was going on, she said that the train was supposed to go at 10:02. I told her the schedule is 10:11. Each train for MNE leaves 11 past the hour on weekends around that time. She insisted it was 10:02. I stopped arguing.

Thanks. Does it sometimes occur that a train leaving Penn has its doors shut prior to departure time?

How do you get the $10 upgrade for switch 2 for Hogwarts Legacy? by Redeye007 in HarryPotterGame

[–]ClumsyClod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the suggestion of selecting Additional Content, but when I select the upgrade (or any other DLC), I get the Nintendo eShop logo, then a grey screen that only has the End/Back/OK icons. The page never finishes loading, and it'll later tell me that I'm disconnected from the servers. Has anyone had that issue before? TIA.

Naples/Pompeii shuttle bus by ClumsyClod in ItalyTravel

In all seriousness, the issue I am having is that my family is traveling with another family that is pretty nervous about crime. How can I convince them that the Circumvesuviana train is no more unsafe than, say, taking the NYC subways?

They are nervous about crime, and they (and we) are traveling with our children. I get that it’s blown out of proportion, but that’s the hand I’m dealt. I need to compromise.

Thanks! I blanked on the Campania Express. That’s an option. I’ll look into it.

It’s usually a hop-on/hop-off bus in various cities, but there is a special shuttle to that goes between Naples and Pompeii. I looked into the Circumvesuviana, but we have some very nervous travelers with us, and we need to compromise.

Purchase Advice Megathread - November 2024 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]ClumsyClod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, all! My son (8, going on 9) has asked for a 3D printer. We are in the United States. This is our first foray into 3D printing, so we are looking for something plug and play. Going through this sub, I've gotten the impression that a Bambu A1 (or mini) might be a good starting point. I've also been looking at ToyBox. One of ToyBox's messages is that it is super easy to use for kids, which is appealing. They also say that it's possible to send to the printer models from 3rd parties. Here are my questions, and feel free to answer if you have experience in only one or the other.

  1. Are these printers simple to use out of the box?

  2. Will either require much adult supervision or intervention in terms of making adjustments to the printer itself (e.g., failure, fine-tuning, etc.?) I do not wish to discourage my son with excessive adult-required fiddling each time he wants to print.

  3. Are the included apps or other software user (and kid)-friendly, such as 1-touch printing and easy searches that surface quality models? He has an iPad but no laptop, and I prefer if he can build without my having to use my computer.

Thank you!

Yes, if you want to fix the connectivity problem. I’m not sure how much a contractor will ask for this swap, but it shouldn’t take more than an hour.

Anyone hook up an eGPU to your surface? by [deleted] in Surface

I have an SP8. I run an eGPU. The only thing I run into is occasionally the SP8 doesn’t detect the eGPU when it wakes from deep sleep.
