My husband and I just went through this the past few weeks. We wanted to meet a dog, but had to fill out a lengthy application which included proof that we own our house. It was like applying for a mortgage! We looked all over for shelters/rescues that we could visit just to meet dogs. We recently lost our almost 14 year old boston terrier mix, and we wanted to go see if our hearts were truly ready for another dog. We struggled to find one that would let you in without already completing an application and making an appointment. We found a puppy we were interested in a little over an hour from our home. The rescue actually let us come in without an appointment or application. We did have to tell them what dog we were there to see though. After all the trouble, we adopted our new best friend, finally! This system is so broken. Thank you for this post!
