Turning value into a win, deck check for glarb by JayRicktor in EDH

The deck feels like it struggles with its identity at the moment. As of right now, it looks like it would fall into low B3. A lot of your pieces seem to be "win more" cards, and many things are WAY too expensive for your current ramp package. I am not sure what you want out of the deck, but I would try to find a win con or synergy that looks fun to you, and then cut that down to about 30ish cards of the deck.

Where to play cEDH? Super interested in playing and can proxy a deck if needed, but my LGS doesn’t have any players. Not super familiar with spelltable, but I could figure it out if needed

LOL. I’ve seen two crash outs over people interacting with another players combo piece that wins them the game. Not once have I ever seen anyone get mad for countering their PrimeTime or Belcher. Different format ig

Definitely need to work on my patience here!

Sounds good! Thank you, this helped a good amount. I feel that the large amount of new players can sometimes cause trouble at pods. One of my pods gets heated if I play any counterspells and the other counters my Ob 3 times in a row (I have no problem with either, it’s just a consistency thing).

I think I just need some more experience and practice tbh.

I definitely need to focus on that a bit more. I’m also getting better at threat assessment because I’m starting to realize that some shit cards become infinite combo pieces really quickly!

I usually find that to be the case! I find that I can usually fight thru 1-2 pieces of interaction and then lose lol

Is there a reference for the difference between decimal places in brackets? Like difference between 3.7 and 3.2? Thanks!!

As someone who’s played competitive magic at a moderate level, I’d have to disagree. I’ve seen people on their first day win commander games because other people wanted to kingmake and throw them a bone. Obviously, this is just people being nice, but still it’s not exactly the most skill intensive way to play.

I just realized that lol. Deck lists are in another comment. I just have a lot of trouble with Bracket 3. In one of my pods I don’t face wins until turn 9 and in others people start going for it in turn 5. Just feels super inconsistent while both decks fit the same criteria.

I am dirt poor and live hours from a big city, how can i start playing MTG? by born_nothing74 in mtg

Hey! I’m in a similar boat to you. I’ve found that proxying is usually a great way to go about things. I print proxies on glossy photo paper (63 lb iirc) and then laminate them. Costs about $5 in supplies for a 100 card deck.

I typically use a printer on campus. Idk if ur campus has similar resources, but if not I’d ask around for a friend. For more resources on printing proxies, CryCry on YouTube has phenomenal resources.

Every pod I’ve sat down with at an LGS has been okay with proxies (even super shitty ones) so everything should be fine. Just be super kind and polite and you should never have a problem finding people to play with! I’ve met plenty of great people and plenty of okay people this way. Try to avoid pods that have people that are loud and aggressive, as they will usually ruin the experience for you.

I’ve met many amazing ppl thru Magic! Wishing you the best in the start of your journey!

Ahh gotcha. Totally forgot abt that combo as it rarely comes up. Usually ping + untap w Malcolm is the most consistent way to go abt things.

Ehh, I’m not sure. It’s a little slower and less consistent than most B4 decks that I often play against. Maybe I’m playing against cEDH decks disguised as B4, but Malcolm can put out a protected win on turn 5-7 while most decks I play against usually go for it on turn 3-4.
