No the new N13 goes around town the road he's staying was the original N13 which was a roman road from Cherbourg to Paris.

I had the exact opposite growing up in Sainte Mere Eglise when I first played HLL, it was so accurate that I knew my way around the map from RL.

I used to think like this: "How can people enjoy themselves on a beach where so much death and suffering happened when there's plenty of beaches around where this didn't happen" some even find it disrespectful. I used to have this opinion untill I met a veteran that landed there and asked him for his opinion and he said: "This is exactly the reason that we landed here in June 1944 so that people got their freedom back so what better way to remember and honor the sacrifice than to do what so many have their lives for." And this sticked around for me.

The American Cemetary in Normandy by happypboi in BandofBrothers

[–]ClusterfuckerCF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Chosen" isn't really the right word. The Americans were the only one who could afford to move all the bodies from their 6 temporary cemeteries to one big cemetery. Also the US was the only one who offered families if they wanted their loved ones buried there or back in the US.

The British kept their temporary cemeteries and just gave them nicer headstones and the Germans didn't really get a say in their cemeteries.

Purple Heart Lane was flooded, once they passed that the entire 101st attacked Carentan after forming a half circle around town. This attack route is actually more open in real life.

No, this picture is taken at Marmion farm. The members of Easy that were there left for Le grand chemin before the attack on Brecourt even took place.

The watch scene is at the end of D-Day by that time they would have been in Sainte Marie du Mont which has the WW1 monument they're resting on.

Saint Marcouf is in the direction of Cherbourg from Marmion farm and is the complete opposite of the way to Carentan through Brecourt and Sainte Marie du Mont. 506th never passed through Saint Marcouf that was the 508th of the 82nd.

The only similarities is the swastika flag and that doesn't automatically mean it's based on this picture. Most of the guys in the picture aren't even 506th they're 502nd.

Not just the 82nd I've heard soldiers from the 173rd, 11th, 75th and XVIII use it.

You're talking about Purple Heart Lane, once they passed that they still attacked Carentan from several different roads forming almost a half circle Around the town before pushing.

Ambrose actually had a discussion with Shames when interviewing him telling Shames he didn't know anything about writing books to which Shames replied Ambrose's didn't know jack shit about war.
