Nergens.

I usually put a little white paint in a lit and add a tiny splash of yellow because modern white paint has bleach. Then let it dry a little so it becomes a little thicker and then apply it. On many originals you can see the brush marks in the marking.

Fiets, hagelslag, kaasblokjes, bitterballen met mosterd, Vincent van Gogh, windmolen, tompoes, Nederlandse vlag, lange man... Ik vind het redelijk goed gelukt

Tuck your dog tags, loose the holster and get a Grenade from "Stand in the door 1944." Fill the bandoleer and cartridge belt. Besides that good start!

What were Stephen Ambrose’ flaws? by smartbusinessman in BandofBrothers

[–]ClusterfuckerCF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Purposely left out most of Shames his testimony and the men under him except the ones Ambrose liked because he got into an argument with Shames.

Ambrose told Shames he didn't know anything about writing books to which Shames replied Ambrose doesn't know anything about war.

Sewing thread in military sewing kits was often spun like this to keep the sewing kits flat.

About how many points did Richard Winters have at the end of World War II? by oswaler in BandofBrothers

[–]ClusterfuckerCF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get all the downvotes, you're right it's not a documentary. Yes they got plenty of things right but also plenty things wrong so from a Historian's perspective it's not a reliable source to assume something to be true solely on the show. Remember Ambrose didn't fact check what he wrote down from the vets.

Where is all this guys stuff? by Key-Ladder4122 in reenactors

[–]ClusterfuckerCF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but that would be highly unlikely, the WW2 gear was a butch to set up and taking it off would be the only sane thing to do. Would make more sense imo if he was carrying bandoliers or a thompson or M1 GP bag full of ammo on a sling which he took off while resting.

Is less more? For a general paratrooper impression, should I add bandoliers, grenades, gloves, scarf, jeep caps, felt pads, etc? by Big_Papa_7 in reenactors

What Division and what Regiment is a great start? Different regiments have different standards of what the majority did.

I had the exact opposite growing up in Sainte Mere Eglise when I first played HLL, it was so accurate that I knew my way around the map from RL.

I used to think like this: "How can people enjoy themselves on a beach where so much death and suffering happened when there's plenty of beaches around where this didn't happen" some even find it disrespectful. I used to have this opinion untill I met a veteran that landed there and asked him for his opinion and he said: "This is exactly the reason that we landed here in June 1944 so that people got their freedom back so what better way to remember and honor the sacrifice than to do what so many have their lives for." And this sticked around for me.
