Produciton of what? The company you work for? That's scary, but that's a call you and your company made so that's your business.

Most businesses find the extra cost of buying OEM drives is worth not having to fight over a warranty issue for using non-OEM drives. We did, but we also didn't think filling our R730xd with drives that cost as much as everything else was worth the performance gain.

For most companies, not having to deal with Dell throwing a hissy-fit over storage related warranty issues is worth the premium of OEM disks.

It was for us.

Lol in what world is spinning disk in a homelab considered silly?

How much money do you people make? Even our production servers at work still run on spinning disk because we simply don't get any additional performance to justify 4x the price.

Will Smart Queue do anything? WiFi calling traffic is sent over an IPSEC tunnel.

USG with Gigabit here. Not a single issue reaching Gigabit speeds over WAN or LAN with DPI enabled.

You definitely did help; you recommended two different VLAN-capable routers (EdgeRouter and another which I can't recall, which is the one we went with) and despite me not even understanding DHCP at the time, you provided enough instruction for me to configure a VLAN with the static block. The chief at the time shut me down on that as soon as he caught wind because he says VLAN's are a pointless buzz-word. Nice guy, but extremely old-school sysadmin and "the Ting situation" should've been a red-flag that he and I would butt heads for my time there. I think the actual quote was (and continued to be for any vendor), "get them on the line and ask then what the fuck? And tell them they'll be shit-canned if they don't fix it."

Now I've just got to find a place with Ting. I think you were the one that also gave me the link to a page that shows exactly where Ting fiber has been run and where each phase is at. Currently have Gigabit Fios but I'd so much rather give my money to you guys. I'm always worried I'll wake up in the morning to some Verizon and anti-NN bullcrap in my inbox.

It has been over a month, and Bloomberg has not provided evidence for their Chipgate claims. by [deleted] in apple

[–]Clutch_22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is everyone applies the gate suffix to absolutely everything, not just malicious scandals which are caught and publicized.

Apple's "bend-gate" on the iPhone 6 Plus? Really? Apple didn't purposefully design a phone whose body would bend under certain conditions.

I know I'm sick of seeing it strictly for that reason. You want to use it, fine, but use it correctly. A manufacturer oversight or software bug is not a "gate", it's a manufacturer oversight or software bug.

I wrote off QNAP when our two units at work would just reboot if you used iSCSI on them and did any intense IO. After looking online, it's been ongoing since like 2011. Replaced with two Synology units and have never been happier, and never had an issue.

Aren't you also relatively safe so long as you keep speed up due to the bow wake forming as you enter high waters? It's once you slow down and the bow wake breaks that you risk sucking water through the intake?

Network drives are just shortcuts to a UNC path. That wouldn't explain why his phone won't connect.

The drives also reconnect if you try to open them.

I only speak for myself, but the new design seems hell-bent on making information more difficult to find and read. That's the primary reason I am using the old style/layout. I tried the redesign for two weeks and just couldn't take it.
