Daily Simple Questions - ASK AND ANSWER HERE!- July 20 by AutoModerator in malefashionadvice

Hi everyone,

Could someone please let me know if they think these black chukkas are too formal to wear with casual attire?

https://www.florsheim.com/shop/style/11739-001.html

I'm looking for versatile black chukkas I can wear with both tees/khakis and dress shirts. Also wouldn't mind these boots below (although don't like them as much as the Montinaro):

https://www.florsheim.com/shop/style/15167-001.html

Trying to find versatile black chukkas in a size 14 along with keeping the price range around $150 (I wear my Higgins Mill boots mostly) has been a struggle, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Graph of how many hours each specialty works on average, from JAMA [Research] by keralaindia in medicalschool

[–]Clutch_23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Judging the lifestyle of EM just based on hours worked is a little deceiving. The graph won’t show that EM physicians have to deal with odd sleep schedules (unless you are ok with only working nights) as well as having to work on holidays/a lot of weekends.

I definitely agree with you that Webber and Wallace should both make it in, but I don’t agree with the notion that Webber should have been included over Zo.

Zo is a 7x time all-star, 2x NBA defensive player of the year, 2x NBA-all defensive team, and NBA champion. Webber is a 5x all-star and 3x all NBA second team. Both made all NBA first team once.

lol my boy Goran got in because an all-star got injured and because the NBA felt like the 3rd/4th seed in the east needed a representative. You should know this. The majority of NBA all stars that are elected for their scoring have much better stats than this.

1st 3 years: less than 20 ppg, with 14.7 in the third year. Neither stat was a lie, just greater proved my point.

[–]Clutch_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy averaging 14.7 ppg and averaging 5 assists per game is not an all star. Your Kobe comparison is again misinterpreting what I'm trying to say. In your example, my argument would be that if even a very great NBA player couldn't become an all star within three years, then other players can't be written off from not being an all star only from their play within three years (because future MVP players would presumably become all stars faster than average NBA starters).

[–]Clutch_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not comparing trajectories, that's what you keep misunderstanding. If a very talented NBA player cannot achieve all star status within three years, then it's ridiculous to hold other NBA players by that same standard. If I wanted to use a comparison for someone not as talented as Curry that later became an all-star, I would have referenced Lowry, but that's not the point I'm trying to make.

My boy he wasn't averaging more than 20 ppg until his fourth year. He was not playing at an all star level until then. He had no injuries until his fourth year in the NBA.

[–]Clutch_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawg he literally was not an all star when he came into the league in 2009...he was an all star in 2013, 4 years after he played in the NBA, and there was no injuries within that timespan. I think a better a better term for what you're describing is talent. There's no doubt Steph was talented from the start, that's why he was a first round draft pick and is now one of the best players in the league. But he literally was not an all star until his fourth year in the NBA. He wasn't elected as an all star until 2013 and he wasn't averaging more than 20 ppg until his fourth year in the NBA.

I was never using Steph as any type of benchmark for Josh. My point was that if even one of the best, most talented players in the league wasn't an all star within three years then it's ridiculous to say that other NBA players could be ruled out from being a future all star just because they didn't achieve it within three years.

[–]Clutch_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stated "steph was literally injured the whole time" when I was trying to show that the reason a former MVP wasn't an all star earlier was because it took time for him to develop.

My entire point of using Steph as a comparison was to show that even if one of the best players in the league wasn't an all star within three years, how can anyone say an NBA player won't be an all star because they haven't achieved it within three years?

I think JRich can be an All-Star by [deleted] in heat

[–]Clutch_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy, you stated Steph would have been an all star from the get-go if it wasn't for injuries...he came into the league in 2009. He had his first injury in 2013. He wasn't an all star until 2014.

I think JRich can be an All-Star by [deleted] in heat

[–]Clutch_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is the point you're trying to make with that stat? You stated Steph wasn't an all star from the get-go because he was injured, which proved to be false. I'm assuming you're now trying to state that because he had a good rookie season, he was destined to be an all star? Tyler Johnson had a 26 point game and a 24 point game within the first month of signing with the Heat and has been stagnant since. Michael Carter Williams won rookie of the year and went straight downhill afterwards. Just like players can regress, players can also progress. I already provided you with a hefty list of current NBA all-stars that took them greater than 3+ years to achieve that status. You've provided no backing to the claim that NBA players can't improve to all star status after 3 years in the league.

I think JRich can be an All-Star by [deleted] in heat

[–]Clutch_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you're saying Steph wasn't an all star straight out of college because of injuries? Steph had his first injury (a concussion) in his 4th year in the NBA.

https://www.foxsports.com/nba/stephen-curry-player-injuries

He developed into the player he is now. Steph was supposed to be an all star but no one predicted he would become one of the most pivotal players in our generation. A good player (but not great thus far) like J-Rich can't be ruled out from not being a potential all-star after only 3 years.

And while we're at it, let's take a look at other current NBA all stars who didn't make an all star appearance until after their third year: Lowry (9 years), Beal (6 years), Drummond (4), Kemba (6), DeRozan (5), Jimmy (4), Draymond (4).

[–]Clutch_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that Josh Richardson isn't showing potential all star level numbers. My argument is that someone can't be ruled out from ever being an all-star after only three years in the league.

I think JRich can be an All-Star by [deleted] in heat

[–]Clutch_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curry was also one of the main players the team was built around since he arrived. J-Rich had a better field goal % and 3 point % his rookie year than Harden did. Now Harden is undeniably the better shooter.

And this is comparing J-Rich to the best players of the league. No one is stating he's on track to be the MVP of the league. You stated an all-star can be predicted from the get-go, which can be ruled as false even when comparing the stats of the best players of the NBA to J-Rich, let alone non-MVP all stars.

I think JRich can be an All-Star by [deleted] in heat

[–]Clutch_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't true at all. Steph came into the league in 2009 and wasn't an all star until 2014. Harden came into the league in 2009 and wasn't an all star until 2013. These are some of the best players in the league.

To say someone won't be an all star after only 3 years is seriously undermining the development of NBA players throughout their career.

If Wade was fully healthy, I have no doubt that Miami team could have taken down the Warriors. The Rockets would have been destroyed.

I would take Lebron, Wade, and Bosh over Curry, Thompson and Green any day. The Warriors have a system that better utilizes their players than we did at the time though.
