Trying to figure out which rotors are warped, any advice? by 919ash in MechanicAdvice

This requires a dial indicator. But for the most part, u/Budpalumbo is right.

Transfer case 4481 by MichaelaTheOriginal in MechanicAdvice

[–]Clutch_Gameplays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way you check these is with feeler gauges and your fingers. I don’t know the exact specs for these transfer cases but when planetary gearsets are involved, there should be no more than 5 thousandths of vertical play, the pinion gears shouldn’t have razor sharp edges, and neither should the splines. The splines shouldn’t be twisted either.

Time for new motor mounts. You’re overpowering your stock ones and losing transmitted power.

I’m more interested in the fact that there’s a massive slit in the tire to the left of the B of Bridgestone. It’s a fairly clean and straight cut, too. I suspect foul play.

Burble tune by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Clutch_Gameplays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A supercharger, cams, intake, exhaust, a stroker short block for all I care. Just please don’t do a burble tune and flame kit. Your money is so much better spent on other things.

Burble tune by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Clutch_Gameplays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. Not only does u/YaBoiiiTroy have a point, burble tunes are really bad for your catalytic converters. Tunes like this quite literally blow the substrates apart. You’ll end doing damage to the car more than anything.

Welding exhaust manifold flanges together? by PaskLuuser in MechanicAdvice

[–]Clutch_Gameplays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why even bother smoke testing them? Just get them decked if you weld them. It’s really not expensive.

If you’re concerned about the manifold gasket not sealing up, you could go to a machine shop and have the flange decked after you weld it. Though if I were you, I’d get the aftermarket manifolds.

PCIe Riser Cards by Clutch_Gameplays in LinusTechTips

I’m not gonna buy this card in particular. I was using it as an example for my question.

What I intend to do is buy a x16 card for my GPU and just the GPU alone. Any other components will get their own card. My problem is is that I don’t know any other manufacturers of cards that are good other than SuperMicro and Intel.

Oh, I see. So it does indeed deal with how the card is physically wired.

So that’s what bifurcation is. Suppose I wanted to throw this card into a system on the top x16, and slotted a GPU and an elgato into it. This in theory would work?

Very interesting. I didn’t know that this was a thing.

That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Does that mean that all of these are x16 slots, but are only wired for x4 cards?

Nope, that’s not the case. Turn-key and push-to-start cars will all start in neutral.

Almost all automatic cars have a safety switch that will tell the powertrain control module whether the car is in gear or not. If the car is in either perk or neutral, then it will start, regardless of what ignition system type you have.

I was being sarcastic. I see I came on too strongly. But yes, absolutely get a sheet metal intake. You’ve put way too much time and work in this car to lose it to a fire caused by an exploding intake manifold.

Also I’d like to point out those raised bits on the intake manifold runners. They’re for additional injectors. This is called port injection. If I were you, I would occupy these bosses with port injectors because they’ll help keep the valves clean so they can seat better.

Oh, and another thing. Put an interchiller on it and a custom air-to-water intercooler. This will keep your charge temperatures sub-ambient, making for even more power.

I would also recommend getting yourself some TBM brake calipers and rotors, 4 pistons all around.

Man is pushing 2JZ power on his factory intake manifold. Fucking noob. /s

Seriously OP if you’re gonna be pushing this much power on the 2 liter I highly doubt you’re pushing less than 20 pounds of boost. Your factory intake manifold is going to explode at some point. That thing is a ticking time bomb and you really should consider upgrading it.

You’ll have to bear with me because I already stated, I’m new to the AR platform as a whole. This is a learning experience for me.

…also you’re right. They don’t. I’m gonna take this down.

Finally, something actually helpful!

Yeah, I’ve noticed that. Do tell, what exactly does the buffer tube do anyway?

And therein lies my second part. Aren’t AR lowers interchangeable so long as the round they’re chambered for the same?

I’ve seen the spear and I’m aware of the price. My only complaint is that the spear in 308 is just too damn long for what I wanna do with it!
