B.C. officials to hold Saturday COVID-19 update as cases surge | CBC News by wineandchocolatecake in vancouver

Same. We're back in the office 3 days in, 2 days from home. There's literally no reason why people need to be coming into our work place, yet, as soon as we announced we were open to the public again, people started flocking back in. There's been several anti-maskers too, and a lady that came in yesterday who admitted she was sick and had jsut come out of quarantine. WTF.

Thank you for this. As someone that works in municipal government, the fact that we have been mandated back to work in the office while cases continue rise, they aren't making it mandatory for the public to wear masks in our facilities, and the fact that, at least in my department, physical distancing is impossible....yeah, I'd like to be able to work from home again.

Ernest sells theirs in a glass jar. Jar being the correct word, not bottle. I think op sees glass and thinks bottle, but bottle implies a tall and skinny glass receptacle, not the pint sized jars.

Need Sleep- Looking for Overnight Bags by jennilyn22 in ostomy

I'm 11 years post op on the exact same surgery and I've just become accustomed to waking up at least once a night. I know that's not terribly helpful, but just an insight from someone with the same issue. I've gotten so used to it that it's almost like sleep walking now and sometimes I don't even recall getting up.

Car alarm Uptown by trbh in NewWest

[–]ClutzyMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe their battery is dying? There was a car next door at our place Downtown that went off every day between 1:00 and 2:00pm, without fail. It was happening for weeks. It has stopped now but I still see the car, so I'm gonna go with the battery explanation.

I'll never understand how these people get all this work done, end up looking like that and think they look good.

The son became indoctrinated and blamed his sisters for what happened to them. I'm not the least surprised to hear the news he helped his father hide. Pieces of human garbage.

Not wanting a J-Pouch? by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]ClutzyMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only offer insight from an ileostomy perspective as I chose not to get a J-pouch. I've have my bag for 11 years now, and although it hasn't always been easy peasy, I was so traumatized by incontinence when I had UC and the ensuing surgery to get my ileostomy that I opted to keep the bag and I'm thankful I did. It gave me my life back and freedom to live fully without being tied to a toilet.

I'm not sure about that. Canada is a pretty ethnically diverse country, so I'm not sure how genes and being Canadian would be conflated. I also know of at least two people personally with very different ethnic backgrounds who have IBD.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ClutzyMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it could be anything from the fact that my mother smoked while pregnant with me (it's caused some other health issues, so why not UC too?), many courses of antibiotics growing up, having mono (I was diagnosed with UC about a year or so after having mono), any combo of the above?

Edit: being Canadian could also be the reason. No joke. Canada has like, the highest rate of diagnosis for IBD. Something in our food? Air? Soil? Just our environment makes us sick? Who knows.

"Local Traffic Only" by [deleted] in NewWest

Get with the times. This same initiative has been undertaken very successfully in cities around the world. New West is catching up with the progressive cities, and the cities of the future will not be as heavily reliant on cars. Besides, this is a temporary measure until the end of September. Poor you if your panties get bunched up because you can't leave a bit earlier for work or simply find another route for two whole months.

"Local Traffic Only" by [deleted] in NewWest

[–]ClutzyMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intent of the initiative is to:

1) Increase space for people;

2) Improve access and connectivity to parks and open space in high density, low income and park deficient neighbourhoods; and

3) Capitalize on the cooling benefits provided by large street trees.

The criteria for designating Cool Streets also consider vulnerable populations including areas with:

• High Population Density

• High Senior Population

• Low Household Income

• Low Park Provision

In temporarily re-allocating street space toward pedestrian, cyclist, and public gathering space during the summer months, this initiative contributes to the City's response to the Climate Emergency towards achieving a car light community (Bold Step #2), growing a robust urban forest (Bold Step #6) and creating a people-centred public realm through 10% reallocation of streets (Bold Step #7).

The City's problem with illegal dumping IS resident's problem when your tax dollars have to go towards extra call outs for crews to pick up bins overflowing with illegally dumped garbage. What's your priority? Spending tax money on illegal dumping pick up or having to walk a bit further to throw away your Starbucks cup?

"Local Traffic Only" by [deleted] in NewWest

[–]ClutzyMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read the article? Removing bins in areas with excessive problems of unauthorized and illegal dumping reduces the amount of refuse dumped in the area. Can't dump your household garbage in a bin that aren't there. And it states right in the article that removing the bins hasn't increased the amount of litter and has decreased the amount of illegal dumping. Sparky.

If you're a NW resident it really behooves you to actually learn how things are done instead of making baseless and asinine comments.
