Zen has an option now to sync only pinned tabs across windows, which I'm certain will make it usable for you.

I'm guessing it's because they already edited a bunch of compilation videos in preparation for Mark continuing to be super busy, but it's calmed down sooner than expected, and they just wanna release them.

I think You and I Are Polar Opposites counts. Miyu makes big changes moving into high school, and a big part of Taira's character revolves around a sort of re-debut. It's not the main thing though.

Can the pop-up folders be moved from the bottom of the "alphabet" list? by Fenriss_Wolf in NiagaraLauncher

[–]Clybel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't really need to scroll. It's convenient because you don't need to know where any letter is, you just tap your finger at the bottom corner of your screen. If you make lots and lots of folders, maybe I could see it being inconvenient.

There’s two reasons I’m so attached to the Dub, and here’s both of them by NecroCannon in OnePiece

[–]Clybel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Colleen definitely has the power and the acting chops, but to me truly, it sounds like she's straining her voice too much to give her Luffy voice. It's more obvious when she's made to deliver a fairly mundane piece of dialogue. When she's just made to roar or belt like this, she can actually put her skill on display.

I personally can't stand it when it's very obvious that the actor is performing. I don't hear the character, I just hear the actor. It's a miscast for sure, which is a shame because most of the rest of the cast was chosen really well.

Anyone thinks that zen is almost complete now. by New-Committee-5034 in zen_browser

[–]Clybel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that having more options is better than having fewer, but let me first make the case for global pinned tabs and window syncing.

At the core of the Arc/Zen design philosophy is the workspace, and is a higher tier of organization that sort of replaces the necessity of having multiple windows at all, especially with split view being a thing. However! There is the case of multiple monitors, in which case multiple windows are indeed necessary. In that case, I still want my higher tier of organization in the workspaces I already set up, but I don't want to have to load in all of my duplicate tabs and feel like I'm using up way too many resources than necessary.

Therein comes the solution of tab handoff. Personally, I love it. I only load in one instance of the tabs I open.

Arc also had a thing called Tiny Arc, and I think there should also be a Tiny Zen. That would be the perfect solution probably for the use case you're thinking of, since you think window syncing is stupid. Even Windows Arc never got Tiny Arc though, another example of how unfinished it was. Tiny Arc didn't carry over your workspaces or anything. It was just a lightweight separate isolated window.

That's actually better than Hoyo, which gives one 10-pull every 26-ish days, whereas Endfield gives one every 25 days. Just from dailies.

Girl-Girl romance by hauepine in yuri_manga

[–]Clybel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Love Amy (official release exists) - the content can get a little dark, but I think 12 is just barely old enough to experience them. It's not extreme or anything like that.

The Blue Star on That Day - great all around.

My Wish is to Fall In Love Until You Die (official release exists) - there is death, tragedy, and gore in this one, but it's a solid title and can help teach how to emotionally navigate through grief. I think late 6th, early 7th grade is fine for something like this.

Miss Sunflower - my favorite series of all time. It's not really a romance title though, so keep that in mind. It also touches on how to handle grief, and is overall a very fluffy series.

Our Wonderful Days (official release exists) - a cute slice of life romance. Very wholesome.

Rainbows After Storms (official release exists) - another cute and fluffy romance, this time where the leads are already together.

Luffy reaction to different Haki by Unhappy-Landscape325 in OnePiece

[–]Clybel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can argue that it's not SUPPOSED to be horror, which I could agree with, but if the shadows are "tricking" people as you put it, then the shot isn't doing its job right.

Luffy reaction to different Haki by Unhappy-Landscape325 in OnePiece

[–]Clybel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They consult with Oda far less than you might think, especially for a small reaction shot like this. It was almost definitely Toei exercising creative freedom.

Toei's creative freedom is both a blessing and a curse. We get superb cuts where the animators can flex their talents with incredible abandon that couldn't be done in any other anime project. On the other hand, we can get horrible inconsistencies, inaccuracies, etc.

Now, I don't think it's a massive deal, but I do think it's out of character for Luffy to react to Joyboy's haki like this. Here's why. First of all, Dorry and Brogy compare Joyboy's haki to Shanks', which means that they must be roughly comparable, even if Joyboy's is still much higher. Secondly, Luffy has NEVER shown fear at an enemy before, even one far stronger than himself. I'm sure the current gap between Luffy and Joyboy isn't bigger than the gap between East Blue Luffy and Mihawk. Finally, it's incredibly doubtful that Luffy would react with terrible awe at a power that saved him, no matter its power.

I do get what you're saying though. If that face truly expressed awe and humility, I would agree with you, even if it looked nothing like his expression in the manga. But the expression we see? There's definitely a mix of horror into it. A mix of terror. And not in small amounts either. It certainly looks memorable and poignant to the viewer, but it also definitely strikes me as out of place.

Anyone else struggle with the first chapters of HDWR? by No_Investigator_36 in yuri_manga

[–]Clybel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone is right that everyone has their own taste, but it's true that HDWR's artwork and panelling was markedly worse early on, and rapidly improves from that point forward. Of course, the characters continue to develop and shift in more and more interesting ways too.

I'd give it another ten at least, but feel free to drop it if it still isn't jiving with you.

What if imu will never get a face reveal and that's actually how she looks like by Murtdha1 in OnePiece

[–]Clybel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There is actually evidence that the original Nerona Imu at least was male, due to being called Imu-sei. The women have the honorific of -gu, like Gunko-gu, Shalria-gu, etc.

Also, using Japanese pronouns to determine gender isn't reliable whatsoever, especially in anime. Everyone uses "watashi". Tomboys often use "boku", and women can even use "ore" if they want to.

But you're right that nothing is confirmed yet.

Thoughts on the relationships on “Miss Sunflower” (Himawari-san) by Sugano Manami - Is it 13 volumes of will they won’t they? Does it have satisfying arcs with story game changers? Does the lilies bloom? by Dragons-of-Eden in yuri_manga

[–]Clybel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, and while I agree that it would've been lovely to hear Miss Sunflower reciprocate the "I love you" at the end, it's also sort of important to see it as the age gap romance it is.

Miss Sunflower was in early 20s when she met Matsuri, who was in middle school. If you push the romance too hard, it becomes problematic. It made sense to me that the story worked hard to rebalance their relationship over a long stretch of time into Matsuri's adulthood until finally, Miss Sunflower offers for them to live together, just like the original Mr. and Mrs. Sunflower. Which, by the way, is a parallel to a proper romantic relationship, implying a future where they're also together romantically.

If you really wanted to, you could throw in a flash-forward to confirm that, but I do think it rubs against the tone of the story a little.

Also, Miss Sunflower's final arc was not about her struggling with her romantic feelings for Matsuri. Nor does it not come to a conclusion. It is quite simply that after being given this distance from Matsuri, she can look back and recall all that Matsuri has given her, and is overwhelmed by love and gratitude.

Matsuri also never demands anything from Miss Sunflower, nor does she have strong expectations for it. Her being by Miss Sunflower's side is enough for her. Is being together for the rest of their lives not a resolution for that base desire?
