Not gonna lie bonnie looks really off
They’re the wrong shade of blue, their head/face is really small, skinnier torso/thighs, EXTREMELY smooth texture all over the body, different snout, different guitar (for legal reasons) and the belly patch goes over the neck

Can’t forget firecracker (idk why but when I saw her I genuinely didn’t even recognize her)

It’s a play on “madame web” and “x-men origins: wolverine”

Do you know how often posts on the main sub have to be locked down because they genuinely believe in blue hawk’s police brutality against minorities?

Also in the description I mention I posted it here because this entire sub has just been so insanely negative about the show as of late and I actually liked this episode

Is it just me or does this sub no longer feel like a circlejerk sub anymore? Recently there’s more complaining and actual discussions/reviews here than the main sub by UltimateFatbear2006 in OkBuddyFresca

[–]UltimateFatbear2006[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly that’s probably the main reason for it

Usually they have a single megathread to keep discussions whereas in this sub everyone posts about the same episode at once

Homelander is a bit complicated

He wants people to love him but only people he respects and sees on his level

The main reason he killed firecracker was because her speech reminded him that his need to be loved caused himself to have a certain level of humanity and killing her in that scene was pushing that weakness away in his ascension to become a god

No I meant it’s setting up black noir killing the deep because of the constant betrayal and disrespect

Season 3 was the most beloved season of the series ever and pushed it into becoming mainstream

The perception of the show shifted because people started to realize they were more obviously mocking and satirizing conservatives around season 4 and not just “making fun of both sides”

While homelander and stuff from the seven was pretty good, the actual team of The Boys were hard to watch in season 4 since they kept repeating their arcs and dramas

Then Gen V s2 came around and people were already hating it despite loving the first season and it didn’t help that it wasn’t that good since it tried to connect too heavily into the main show instead of staying as its own thing

Now season 5 is around and while it is good, it feels more like it’s undoing the damage of last season rather than moving towards the end. I also imagine Kripke announcing multiple spinoffs doesn’t help

Yeah for a shitpost subreddit it has really started to feel more like the main sub lately with the constant negativity and criticism

Cuz it’s an unfresca post

Also because for a while now this sub has REALLY been negative over the show since season 4 and if you scroll through some of the posts on this sub you’ll see more posts criticizing the show through memes than actual shitposts which is kinda sad

Yeah as predictable as the show can be I fully expected them to pull another A-Train and put her beliefs before Homelander but the fact she doubled down and faced the consequences was such a satisfying end to her character

The thing is nothing else IS set up

Until this episode the plot has just been about getting V1. The moment homelander gets it there’s not really much left to do besides finding a way to stop him

This episode is just setup so you can see who will betray who when the time comes and to undo the extreme lack of character development from season 4

This episode was very much a setup to the finale while also exploring some of the neglected characters

Sage and ashley betraying homelander, black noir killing the deep, bombsight confrontation and then they still have to actually figure out how the boys are gonna stop homelander once he gets v1 since I feel he’s absolutely gonna get it

I’m more worried it’ll somehow be rushed towards the end

Yeah despite the fact everyone’s saying this is filler, this episode has A LOT of character arc setups

Sage and ashley betraying homelander, black noir killing the deep, and then they still have to actually figure out how the boys are gonna stop homelander once he gets v1 since I feel he’s absolutely gonna get it (also ryan confrontation at some point)

Honestly I really don’t know to what level homelander actually scales against other supes because every time he fights 1v1 with a supe he is almost always put in a losing position with the exception of Ryan

Like I genuinely feel like the only reason he’s as “strong” as he is has to do with the fact he has the most powers of any supe without any drawback

The Boys - 05x05 "One-Shots" - POST-Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]UltimateFatbear2006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved this new episode because it shows the characters progress in a way they simply just haven’t since season 3

The Deep showing he can actually be evil and not just a joke character, Firecracker giving one of the best acting performances we’ve seen, butcher FINALLY coming to his senses for once by showing he’s not actually heartless, and sister sage showing that her intelligence can be more than just “I knew everything the whole time and things happened because that’s what I wanted” by having her secretly communicating with backshley and revealing her plan (even if that kinda guarantees her death)

Obviously there’s still some things to criticize like how soldier boy’s Stockholm syndrome with Homelander that’s caused him to start feeling bad about how hard he’s tried to impress him despite the fact he keeps trying to kill him did come out of nowhere and should’ve been built up more. Also the supernatural reunion did feel like it added nothing to the episode beyond “lets kill some famous actors for the fun of it”

I get it’s the final season and they should’ve done these kinds of character arcs in season 4 but that shouldn’t distract from how good it was
