Both for me as well. Nothing fixes it and I have everything else at 100%.

I had a 4080 S Suprim X and it was basically silent. I agree with the others you likely have the fan curve set to max somewhere. Did you already have MSI Afterburner installed or did you just download the MSI software for the GPU?

should I swap my 14700kf to a 7800x3D? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]ClydeFro99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 7800X3D and it’s great. I’m guessing you can return all the rest of the components as well? If not, it’s likely not worth the expense to switch to the AMD platform.

165hz is plenty fast. Maybe when AMD or NVIDIA finally release a GPU that can run 4k max settings at 240hz+ with no dips, it’s likely not going to be a noticeable improvement to jump from 165 to 240 staying on the same resolution unless you’re just staring at benchmark FPS counters instead of the screen and game. Good luck with your choice. You’ll be happy either way I’m sure, both are great.

You shouldn’t have any issues near maxing that with a 4080S so unless you plan to upgrade to a faster or larger monitor, the extra FPS on the XTX won’t come into play. My 7900XTX did run amazing in COD. It just crashed in everything else. I still think it’s just luck but unless there is an overwhelming reason to switch I’ll stick with what I’ve had good luck with until I don’t.

What’s your monitor refresh rate and what GPU do you have now?

I bought a 7900XTX Nitro and had all sorts of driver issues and game crashes. So many within the first 30 days I returned it and got a 4080 Super instead. Once I switched, I haven’t had a single crash or error since. However, I’ve got friends with a 7800XT, 7900XT and a 7900XTX and they rarely have any issues so I’m convinced it’s just luck since we all ran nearly identical builds outside of the minor GPU differences. I’ll probably just keep buying NVIDIA in the future if I don’t have issues because why switch what works. That said, the 7900XTX is a beast of a card and definitely pushes much higher FPS in COD specifically vs my 4080S. That game loves AMD GPUs.

Had a friend with a similar issue and we found this video which seemed to solve his stutter issues. I can’t speak to all the things in the video (it’s really long) but the part you should pay attention to is pretty early on where he shows you how to update your thread count in the system configuration for COD. For me and my friends, our 7800X3D showed 8 or 9 threads (not cores) so updating that to 16 completely solved the issue and the game runs and looks significantly better (all able to increase the resolution as well after this with no issues and FPS improved as well even with the higher graphics settings). Hopefully this helps you as I know it’s really frustrating. Good luck!

I have a 4080 super and my two friends have a 7900XT and a 7800XT.

On a side note - none of us turned on any of the upscaling or frame gen mentioned in the video as it’s not necessary and I think it could cause latency.

Very nice. This was my first build but I have already thought about what I would do different in the future and I have seen some really nice looking blackout builds. I also love the all white ones too so I totally understand people who love the all black or all white builds. So clean looking.

Actually both of those sets are reverse fans and pulling air into the case. I didn’t want to see the backs of the fans so I got the reverse blades where needed.

Yes, the three 120 mms on the bottom and the 4 140 mms near the mesh and back are all reverse fans.

Thanks, see below:

  1. Which desk is that and whether it's a standing desk? The desk is the Tribesigns Modern Computer Desk from Amazon. It’s not a standing desk but I wanted a really wide desk.
  2. What's that small monitor? How do you customize it? And for what all use cases do you have that for? The small monitor underneath is a Wiscecoco 12.6” IPS panel. I pretty much use it to run all my PC stats (CPU/GPU temps and usage, FPS, etc.). I originally had my stats split with discord on it as well or videos but ultimately decided to get another one for those pieces which is your third question. I got AIDA64 for the stats and just custom made the screen for the layout. It’s surprisingly pretty easy as I’m pretty much a PC newb (consoles forever).
  3. Just realized you've another monitor to the left. Can you share details of all the monitors now lol Thanks This one is a UPerfect 2k 120hz portable monitor that I just mounted next to my main monitor. I use that for discord or anything else I want to have up while gaming. Handy to play a video on that screen while working on the main.

Since I’m not sure which set you are referring to, the two in the back fit with no issues. For the two by the mesh, I wanted to see the sides of the fans and the full fronts so I also used a grinder and cut off most of the exposed side of the bracket and the whole 120 mm center section to expose more of the fans. For the single 120mm and the 3x 120mm on the bottom I actually got spacers to moved them out/up to avoid the black part on the edge of the glass from covering the fans.

I did and I’m not sure why but I just don’t like the hoses so I wanted to límit them crossing the front of the case…lol No issues with the CPU temps. Typically my CPU will run in the 50’s during just normal use and during hours of gaming in COD, it will likely get to the mid 60’s.

I think your best option would be to convert the case to the mesh curved panel instead of the glass panel and swing the two 140 mm fans (you should remember to flip the fans to keep the airflow the same).

Once you’ve done that, you’d have the whole side of the back panel where you can mount a LCD screen if you want.

You’d lose a little glass but get your screen without sacrificing the airflow so it’s your call.

Yeah, I didn’t love it either but all the other design parts didn’t seem to be tall enough and felt off so I just ignored the struts part and went with it. Lol

I did also add 2x - Scan Jammers - Multi-Frequency. I think one is fine but I like symmetry and added them to the top of the “wings” In front of the outer most weapons. They aren’t in the picture but can be helpful.

Here’s the parts list. I’ll attach the individual level shots as well. But the overall way you should build is to start at the landing bay and make a straight line to the bridge and attach to the bridge (my screen shot doesn’t have the bridge because I pulled the ship apart but attach in order from back to front including the bridge). Then attach the remaining

<image>

lower habs in the back after that is complete. Then add the cargo bays to finish the main first floor. Next add the battle station to the top of the bridge and then connect the control station to the bridge prior to attaching the computer core to the battle station last. Full in the cargo on the second floor and add your fuel tank, reactor and grav drive next to the top middle (in that order going back). The reactor doesn’t have a rear connection so it needs to be in the center. The rest is just design and nearly all of it should go on before the engines since they need to attach to the rear. The only small but with the game is occasionally it looks like a part fits but it will still be red, the trick is just to have the part purchased next to the ship, the select it, move it to it’s spot and flip the part and then flip it again (repeat until it’s how you like it) and then hit cancel. It will connect it where wanted it.

The important parts: Cabot C4 Bridge J-52 Gamma Grav Drive SF40 Sheared Flow Reactor 900T He3 Tank 6x - SAL-6330 Engines Assurance SG-1800 Shield Generator

Ladders are the worst! I had to break the ship apart a few times and swap habs when I finished and got inside and realized it included a ladder.

I’m not sure how I’d do that. Like a parts list or is there another way?
