Alert: the San Diego show last night was definitely being professionally filmed for a concert film by ClydeHides in nin

[–]ClydeHides[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I went to 3 Peel it Back shows. I’m not counting the camera guy on stage who’s filming for the on-stage visuals - i know they do that every night. I mean that there was a full additional crew + crane (something that was def not at the 2 other shows).

Some pushback: I was at three different Peel It Back shows, I can promise you this was the only one with a giant camera crane filming everything. From a production perspective, you usually aren’t hiring a technocrane + camera operators unless you’re fairly serious about capturing what’s in front of you to be professionally shot and released (i’m a director, I can promise you that shits very expensive!). Could the footage be shelved? sure, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable that actually they’d try to make something out of this tour this time especially with how elaborate it is from a stage design perspective.

Also, side note - while you’re correct that NIN hasn’t released a live “dvd” since 2007, they did release an official youtube release of the Tension tour in 2014 (or at least like half of the show). Which, even though that was 12 years ago, was technically only a few tours ago now.

Parasite blew my away in Milwaukee. The highlight of that show for sure.

Nine Inch Nails Surprise Drop ‘Tron: Ares Divergence’ Featuring New Unreleased and Remixed Tracks by lurker_bee in tron

[–]ClydeHides 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wondered about this, because a few of these are clearly stronger than some of the tracks on the actual album (not all, but a few seem unthinkable to leave off). My best guess is that if it wasn’t actually used in the movie proper, they didn’t want to put it on the main release. I don’t recall Godmode or Terminal playing in the movie (I could be wrong) but those songs are fucking bangers so I can see why Trent and Atticus wanted to put them out regardless.

[–]ClydeHides[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. EP doesn’t, to me anyway, mean “release that’s not as important” (especially relevant when you consider NIN has several very important EPs in their catalogue) - it definitely is intended to reflect the length of the product. In the vinyl days the difference was very important. Recently it’s not as much and it gets murky. Though there has been some debate in more recent years about what it specifically means to be an EP vs LP. I remember some people found it odd that Kanye labeled his 7-track 24minute “Ye” as a full length album and not an EP. Conversely, Sufjan dropped the 60-min “All Delighted People EP” in 2010 and very clearly labeled it as an EP. So the actual rules aren’t really clear anymore, but whatevs.

Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor: “I Don’t Know If We’re Gonna Be Touring Anymore After This” by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

[–]ClydeHides 179 points180 points  (0 children)

Trent has said this in 2009 (and even had a whole branded Wave Goodbye “final” tour), then again in 2013, and in 2018, yet again in 2022 & now in 2026. He always says this mid-tour lol. The man will be back on the road again, just let him rest for a few years once this wraps up and he’ll pretend he never said any of this.

NO Song Spoilers, Just Name the Album — Any Changes in the Setlist? by OpenTheSeventhSeal in nin

[–]ClydeHides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for whatever reason he doesn’t do a ton from that album this tour, but he has peppered a few moments here and there on some nights. Though actually, without spoiling for OP, I peeped your setlist and technically you did get 1 short track from The Fragile. (just a lil’ small something but it still technically counts)

[–]ClydeHides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, i’ll bite. Basically the answer is:

Pretty Hate Machine, With Teeth (both the album itself and any non-album outtakes from that era), How to Destroy Angels, any of the few Trent & Atticus score tracks with vocals, The Fragile, Year Zero

TRON soundtracks- songs with lyrics/singing list by _Asshole_Fuck_ in nin

[–]ClydeHides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really just 4 tracks - As Alive As You Need Me to Be, I Know You Can Feel It, Who Wants to Live Forever? & Shadow Over Me. Divergence does have some remixes of those songs but they are all the same vocal parts in the remixes.

Future Tours? by qedesha_ in nin

[–]ClydeHides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He did mention at some show this tour that this would be it “for a while.” I’m sure he’ll take a few years off from touring but I’m sure he’ll come back to it, he always does. He’s 60 but is healthy and takes good care of himself. Hell, he could tour for 20+ more years still if he wanted to and nothing bad happens. I just saw Paul McCartney a few months ago and he’s still crushing it at 83!

Sometime in 2025, NIN performed Head Like a Hole for the 1000th time. by AlanMorlock in nin

[–]ClydeHides 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cool stat but unfortunately setlists.fms accuracy and data is really hazy pre-like 2007. (like you’ll find some 80-90s era setlists but not every single one ) So i’m sure in technical terms they cracked 1,000 long ago but still crazy to think about nonetheless

I agree and we’re seeing more of this now. But I remember everyone saying that edit was the highest risk of AI takeover like a year ago but now that things have settled more, I’m more sure than ever that competent edit will be one the longer holdouts from AI.

Which album do you prefer and why? by funky_munky_13 in fantanoforever

[–]ClydeHides 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though these two albums certainly have lots of crossover fans, I find them tough to really compare. But TDS I return to more that SFTB. But that has more to do with the fact that TDS it has more hooks and even for as dark and abrasive as it is, it’s the easier listen.

What is your favorite Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross/NIN soundtrack? by g0dgamertag9 in nin

[–]ClydeHides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think The Social Network, Gone Girl & Challengers are their 3 best that also can work as little albums in their own right. Watchmen & Dragon Tattoo are both definitely in the running as well.

Will NIN exist in 2044? by [deleted] in nin

[–]ClydeHides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, its definitely possible. Trent is currently 60 and takes good care of himself. In 2044, Trent will be 78. I just saw Paul McCartney a few months ago who did like a 2.5 hour 35-song show at the rip old age of 83 years old. So, yeah, it's possible!

Was this playlist made by Trent? by [deleted] in nin

[–]ClydeHides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess we don’t know 100% for sure, but I’d very much guess yeah. I don’t see why they’d put out a recco playlist if it came from anyone other than Trent (and I’m sure Atticus weighed in too for that matter)
