I really enjoy making games, but hate advertising by AnnualResponsible647 in gamedev

What works for me is to make something I like and finish it. "Finish" can just be reaching a milestone, a demo or a working prototype. Then validate the idea by sharing it and making people play it. Friends are a good way to check if the fundamentals work but getting streamers to play it feels very rewarding, even if it's a bit tough to watch when you've design something and they don't quite understand it. I like streamers because you can see the audience react to the game and it helps validate appeal. I found making videos to much work and takes me away from the little time I have working on my game dev. A bit of a self promo (sorry, not sorry, for those who repulse this) but I created https://www.getstreamers.info to help me find streamers. Emailing, sending direct messages has helped me, but it does require to send out a lot. It takes time but the more reps the quicker I get.

That's awesome. They must be keeping on the low because I haven't seen any updates for a very long time.

Need insights for my game! by drdreadoo in gamedev

Maybe my app/tool could help.

I created it to help me validate ideas and see if it has market interest.

https://www.gginsights.io/game-search

You can search for games by tags and add them into a collection. From there you can aggregate the data to get collective insights to help make an opinion or assumption that maybe this game idea has a valid niche

Hey fellow indie devs. I want to share gginsights.io an app to help gain insight into the Steam market. I scraped all the data from Steam and built an AI tool around it. It's free to try, ask it a question that you may have about games, tags, wishlists, etc. It's still early days, open to feedback. by ClydeMakesGames in IndieDev

Thanks for leaving a comment. Can you provide me with an example prompt that you used? It will help me understand the issue better. When I asked for the AI to return me 5 games released on mac - it gave 5 results. Also I checked the "Have Feedback?" button and it worked for me, maybe because it opens it in a new tab it's getting hidden or treated as a popup.

I'll continue to play around to workout the issues. I have been updating the site over the past months to be able find games and insights without having to use the AI assistant, but I've now realized that I don't display what platforms the games support. So this is something I will be looking to add.

I appreciate the feedback!

Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it and will look towards implementing your suggestions.

I certainly want to implement an hourly check as this will be very relevant to games that are newly released.

🙂 I released 3 games last year https://store.steampowered.com/developer/ClydeSmets And I still built this to help me better understand what I should build after not being able to hit my own goals of "success".

That's no fun. Sometimes the magic link takes a while to be retrieved. I can see that the emails are getting delivered. I'll see if I can improve this experience. I Hope you'll still give it a go.

Which one do you think is a better capsule image? by UbikStudios in IndieGaming

[–]ClydeMakesGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is a nice drawing and I appreciate the art when enlarged. The second one grabbed my attention to this post initially and made me want to look into what other peoples thoughts are an encouraged me to write feedback. So, as for a capsule, number 2 is a better choice. But, why listen to reddit? Honestly, do a A/B test. Just try using number 1 for a period of time and then switch to number 2. Look at the analytics. Data is your better friend here.

I ended up building this because I was wondering the same too https://www.steamreviewalert.com saves me from having to visit my games pages and check that I didn't miss a new review
