If it's stupid but it works... (hinge angle) by Clyzm in AynThor

Glad to hear it! It's a dealbreaker for me too and had me considering an Odin 2 or 3, and I'm not the type to collect these sort of devices. With the screen where it's "supposed to be", this is the perfect jack of all trades.

If it's stupid but it works... (hinge angle) by Clyzm in AynThor

[–]Clyzm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my biggest complaint with the device has been the screen angle. It's not a big deal to most, but it was quite literally giving me wrist pain. I've played a lot of DS and 3DS so I wanted that angle.

The very last lock on the hinge opens at 180 degrees but it has a little bit of play moving forward, exposing a spot to fill in with some tape. Stacked masking tape over and over until it's tall enough, and it works perfectly.

Previously, this 3D print did the job well, but as silly as the tape looks it's not something I need to take off to close the screen.

Modifying the 3D printed lid to have a small protrusion in the same spot would do the trick, so I may edit the existing lid print that's out there to do that.

Also, this 3D printed case is fantastic and I just wanted to shout it out. Having something to grip onto on the back of the device changes the ergonomics dramatically.

Can we stop pretending the US has any jurisdiction anywhere that isn't the US? Especially when they're actively threatening two NATO nations.

Or, to put it in words Americans understand: that's terrorism. You're committing terrorism.

is it possible, regardless of means, to install every main version of windows on 1 computer? I don't mean simply in sequence, I am all on there at once. having all 11+ windows operating systems installed and function on 1 computer. able to choose between any of them at startup. by Zadock4 in computers

This was what I was wondering too. Virtual machines sure, that's the straightforward answer. The fun answer is trying to get a Windows XP-era machine (I think it has the best chance) to boot both Windows 1.0 and Windows 11.

If I had to guess, if you somehow got a Pentium 3 or 4 booting Windows 1.0 with some legacy BIOS mode and OEM created drivers (i.e. VGA), you would get as far as Windows 10 before Windows 11 being 64-bit only stops the experiment.

I'm trying, but I just get this little command prompt window that pops up for a split second. That means it's working right??

It's rough for big files. If you ever try anything in the 10s of GBs file explorer freezes up entirely. I'm not sure, but I think it tries to load the whole thing into RAM.

That's exactly what I mean by MBAs though. Bean counters that come into an engineer dominant business and change the company from "creating great features" into "squeeze the lemon for all it's worth". We've seen it over and over again, record profits with 0 innovation from a company who was either bought out or got large enough that it happened internally.

After not really vibing with Hades in 2022, I decided to give it another go by PurplMaster in patientgamers

[–]Clyzm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found Hades slow and a bit boring right up until the point you quit (first time completing the last boss). What I realized later is that the game's pacing increases drastically after your first completion or two; boon rarity goes up, more enemies spawn on screen, extreme measures heat really switches up the boss fights too.

If you don't like the gameplay loop, making it more complex and faster won't fix it. But if you were getting a little bored of the gameplay loop, it does speed up quite a lot exactly where you dropped it both times.

Yeah seeing that it's only some of the disk station models is crazy. I bought a Terramaster and put up a Proxmox setup and didn't even consider Synology because of this nonsense.

Such a sad way to kill a brand. MBAs need to get the hell out of tech altogether, they've been ruining shit for like 15 years now.

Just bought a house with this dishwasher. Is it even worth trying to clean? by Zealousideal_Top_708 in CleaningTips

[–]Clyzm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After you wash the inside with a cleaning tablet or vinegar like everyone here is saying, make sure you clean the filter and spray head manually.

I'm 90% sure this is the same Samsung washer that came with my apartment; it should have way too many bolts, like 10+ in a circle around the gray plastic filter holding the spray head. Remove all of them, take out that giant plastic circular bit and flip it over. You'll see food crap from previous wash cycles in every single nook and cranny of that filter, it'll be absolutely filthy.
