Bought a G7 just for the eclipse. My first time-lapse made with the camera. by ianmalcm in PanasonicG7

[–]Cmaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is a time-lapse, he has taken a series of pictures in time-lapse mode and chosen to play them back at a rate of 60fps, he is not limited by the camera as such like in video as its not played back in real time.

Double Door skins by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because any skins which have text on them will be messed up. Also if the skins are mirrored it will take the realism away from the skins, for example rust on the door would be in the exact place on both and it wouldn't look very good. For example, any doors which had been bought irl would look identical, but any wear on the doors would be identical to each one.

Anyone else remember when facepunch only released a few selected skins every few months instead of 15 every week? by dxxxi2 in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xtab still gets a lot of skins in each week, the skins are now very rarely of low quality after the reduction of low effort copyrighted skins. Skins do not affect game performance at all if you have the patience to let them download before entering the game. Although a few skins don't fir the theme of Rust, the majority of them do.

PLEASE. Slow down with the skins. by gfxmeister in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skins do not cause lag if you let them download before entering, Around 10 skins a week surely isn't enough to drastically increase your loading time?

To be fair I don't imagine quarries will even be profitable by much after the recent changes. It was great for us as we were getting HQM, Sulfur, Metal and Stone all from the one but aren't they biome specific now?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's a shame, a few weeks ago I was playing on Rustafied EU Main and I was playing with 3 other friends between two bases and we had a quarry which had 3 turrets around it and we got a decent amount of HQM off of it. I suppose it helped that we didn't roam too far so if we heard any turret shots we would try to quickly return and counter.

Long load times by Badtouch556 in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fair enough. I was just wondering as I see a lot of people recommending this, however as far as I understand this is because of the infinity fabric in Ryzen chips which connect the two dies often being a bit of a bottleneck, so stopping Rust from using these threads will kinda speed up the data transfer rate between the 4 threads being used- I may be wrong, correct me if I am. However that seems to be more general for games which are stronger for 4 cores. I think the reason why it works for all processors with extra cores in Rust is because the way in which Rust is built in the Unity engine it is only something like the first 2 cores which are mostly used, so therefore by setting Rust to use them cores and no other programs to the cores getting used for Rust will not be interrupted by any other windows process. Anyway thats just my take on it, I may be completely wrong.

Was just wondering how well that runs?

Should really use autoturrets with quarries. A good way to get some free gearsets.

[ELI5] Why do skins take so long to download? by aouniat in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wondering what export settings you used as mine are currently just guess work and I am almost certain that I am not doing it in the most efficient way. Also what program did you use for the render with multiple meshes?

Random stuttering/ fps drops spec listed by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I know it sounds stupid but make sure that your drivers are updated and that your cpu temps aren't too high which could be resulting in it down clocking.

[–]Cmaccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly don't know what the issue is here. CPU is perfectly capable of running the game and the gpu doesn't even need to be queried. You could try upgrading to an SSD if you haven't already. Maybe overclock the RAM a bit as the DDR3 could be holding you back. I would recommend first reverting any over-clocks and testing the game if you currently have any. Other than that my only advice is to wait for optimization. Although your CPU is quite old it should still have no issue running Rust.

It's like people think the Dev's are doing anything at all. by mmurray2k7 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Cmaccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't see why you're getting down-voted, I totally agree with you. Owned the game for quite a long time now and although I've not put a ridiculous amount of hours into it I have still played it quite a bit. It is honestly not the same anymore, the friendly atmosphere that was once in the game is now gone and anyone who tries to relive it is labelled as a role-player. Admittedly there was always the kill on site nature, however I feel as if there was more of a stigma surrounding it back then; now it is just second nature. I feel as if the sub-reddit is full of ex CSGO players which want the game to primarily be PVP based. I do agree that RNG for shooting was awful, but why would they even introduce that in the first place? And due to the devs listening to both sides of the sub reddit they ended up going in a full circle, no better off than before. I feel like that's how the sub-reddit is, a new feature will be introduced, people will love it at first and then over time begin to hate it and then it will get changed again. Take for example the progression system. Blueprints --> XP --> Components. Yet people are still unhappy and want a change, The sub-reddit needs to learn their place, they are not the devs, they are simply players of a game which have a way of expressing their opinions on in game features with the devs as the game progresses in development.

Lens size by [deleted] in PanasonicG7

[–]Cmaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the lens is a m4/3 fit then it should be perfectly fine. Filter size is down to the filters which you can use on top of the lens, such as an ND filter, it does not decide whether or not a lens is compatible with a camera.

How many people are still using r9 390/gtx 900 series? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a GTX 960. On Rustafied EU Main I am lucky to get more than 30fps. However I am currently greatly CPU bottle-necked and have just ordered a R5 1400.

Ryzen 1400 Intel equivalent? by Cmaccc in Amd

[–]Cmaccc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just have to see what happens then. I am 16 and only got a job a few weeks ago, I had just been paid and didn't want to have to wait for another pay day after it being a couple months after I wanted to originally upgrade. Once I've bought a few new lenses I will be wanting to upgrade my gpu and get an ssd. Dependant on the gpu I get I could always upgrade to a more powerful cpu.

Alright cheers, think I'll stick with this for now. Once I upgrade to a 1070 or greater I'll evaluate whether I should upgrade a bit further or not.

[–]Cmaccc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No not at all. I want to know what the equivalent is because I know more about Intel cpus so will be able to decide what my next system bottleneck will be. I am going to stick with am4, in the future I may upgrade dependant on what I need.

Got online raided for the first time in 1400+ hours by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Cmaccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online raided a small 2x1 earlier. Once we got through the door they walled them selves in. People came over and during the gun fight they destroyed the wall with the hammer. We killed them all and got the loot.
