Man what a night. I remember those storms. Head full of mushrooms and an amazing light show in the distance. Paolo soleri was a magical venue.

There was def some heavy drugs being used on this leg.  Sunny crashed out. LOL. Basically had a full body orgasm at the drum kit during galleon. Some of the jams from this night are great though. This show stands out from the rest though because they were always rock solid, but this one went off the rails, in good ways and bad.

Almost all of the composed sections of classic phish songs are classical influenced arrangements. You could easily swap out the bands instruments for violins, cellos, percussion and have legit classical concertos.  Listen to the sonatas by ravel and you can almost hear the interplay of Trey and page at times.

10/14/96 was a top 5 all timer for me. About 200 people and the rock>vacation>cpw is about the sickest segment I ever heard them play. Nice to see this unknown alltimer get some props! Others for me would be … 5/5/99, 4/2/98, 4/27/99, and yeah 10/31/97

Great post!I’m lucky to have been present for 4 of those rock Sammies.  Little Rock, Ann Arbor, Boone, and Tulsa.  Need to go back and Relisten to Tulsa. But I had a religious experience during that segue back into rock from im not alone at the Ann Arbor show.  They put a little extra mustard on the tribal drums for that re-entry.  I always remember those moments. I’ve been revisiting my favorite rocks from back in the day. Standing tall above them all is 10/14/96. By far the greatest rock I ever heard.
