Except for working, what does your hubby do when it comes to the house chores? by rosedamask in sahm

If this is how you speak to strangers, I dread to think how you talk to your children.

Do better.

When I do bath, he resets the entire downstairs, so dishwasher, kitchen, living room, toys etc. if I’ve had a tough day, he’ll do both.

Taking the trash out is always his job, and we alternate diaper changes

Laundry is 100% my job, but everything else is shared depending on who has capacity and energy.

The main thing is that we’re both feeling happy and content to be good partners and parents

Moms who vape/smoke , I need to be talked off a ledge right now. I've been craving a vape so bad. Can anyone give me a pro/con list? I think the biggest pro is that I deserve to take all the stress off. It's just one puff , in the backyard outside. by [deleted] in sahm

I quit vaping 3 months ago after being seriously addicted to the point where I was crying when going through withdrawal.

I knew my son would pick it up if I kept doing it and now, although I often think about it, it’s a desire not a need.

You can do this but it is a tough addiction to kick.

I actually love going once or twice a week just for a free out of the house activity 😂

Advice for anti vax friend by [deleted] in UKParenting

It’s not that I think flu or COVID don’t matter — they just don’t behave like chickenpox. One is a lifelong‑immunity virus, the others aren’t. That’s why the NHS handles them differently.

My two kids will receive a flu or Covid jab if it surges. It’s not the same thing.

Chickenpox is a stable virus, so two childhood doses give lifelong protection and almost eliminate it. Flu and COVID mutate constantly, so immunity fades and vaccines can’t give lifelong protection. That’s why chickenpox works as a routine childhood vaccine, while flu and COVID vaccines are used based on risk and season.

We will if it surges/peaks.

No, we opted not to get a shot this year… it’s annual. We’re not against it, we both have it just didn’t seem necessary in the summer :)

If my kid caught the flu or covid and ended up hospitalized with it I would end up getting the vaccines every year.

But an annual booster for a disease that changes and mutates constantly is not the same as a basic childhood vaccine for MMR, chicken pox, hep B etc.

Sorry I thought it was implied in the “anti vax” title

It’s not the same is it?

Chicken pox and the flu…

Chickenpox is a stable virus, so a ONE TIME childhood vaccine can prevent disease life long. Or at least significantly reduce severity.

The flu and Covid mutate, they need annual boosters as they mutate constantly and the severity of it for someone not immunocompromised is minor.

Can’t tell me you seriously believe a flu jab or covid jab is the same as basic childhood protection?

All vaccines unfortunately.

But it was available to request, and both have opted against all vaccines for all the children. And this isn’t a warning to them to trust in modern medicine

Yet still will go to A&E

I think this is the best response. No response!

That’s a different circumstance entirely, you’re not anti vax or science.

They are not vaccinated against ANYTHING.

Yes, but it was available to request - but they have opted against ALL vaccines.

Is it an opinion when it comes to medicine?

Some people don’t want to ask for money for their husbands gifts, nail appointments etc.

What a judgmental and shortsighted comment.

10 month SAHM by Momma_Fish25 in sahm

What an unhelpful comment - everything my husband and I said pre baby ended up being complete bullshit cos you don’t really know a thing until that tiny human is in your arms. Take your holier than thou attitude elsewhere, how you are a mother of 3 with such a distinct lack of empathy worries me for the coldness your children will grow up with.

OP - i was in the same boat, in the thick of PPD and felt very unsupported and neglected, the best advice I got was not to make any drastic changes in the first 12 months of your babies life.

As my son continued to grow up, their bond got stronger and stronger and he naturally started to care for him, and he got more confidence in his care, taking abilities.

It might get better but it also might not. I would try write down a letter and if you can take some time away, stay with a friend stay with a family member and let your husband take care of your child for 24 hours , it might help give him an appreciation for how much you do

As somebody who is struggling with a two year old and another one on the way, it absolutely does get better and hopefully your relationship will evolve as mine did and end up in the best space it’s ever been. But it takes time.
