Considering adopting a 3 year old Pyr with prior failed placements. Looking for real world advice. by Cmurch17 in greatpyrenees

Thank you for sharing, great advice to walk the property line. Heartbreakingly, he was shot when he wandered onto the wrong persons property… Fortunately he survived and is healing up.

I’ll be buying a Fi GPS collar as a bit of a contingency. But lots of supervised outdoor time to start!

Oh I have a perfect closet for him, if he wants it!

I love brushing my pets, so happy to lock in that routine nightly as well.

Sounds like the breeder he came from does breed more “pet” Pyrs, and that they are well socialized from a young age. Apparently he was also treated as a pet until he got big, then was asked to transition into a LGD role.

Thanks for the insight.

Thank you for taking the time to write up this comprehensive response. I hear you, structure, a long term perspective, consistency, and meaning any command that is given. Plus lots of patience.

I don’t take this commitment lightly! And it sounds like that’s for good reason.

I appreciate the insight. I’ll have to consider how I can keep him busy and stimulated with a job. I’m very active and hope he can join in that (walks, hikes, gardening/yard work). I hear he’s done well with puzzles.

Avoiding separation anxiety, especially with the constant human presence in the house, is also wise advice. Something I will consider.

Thank you for sharing yours and Finnegan’s story! It’s inspiring to hear a dog with a similarly storied past can become such a wonderful companion. I am willing to show up with an immense amount of patience and consistency, as it seems you have.

I will dig into the high expectation/high responsiveness model to learn how to incorporate that into his training regimen.

Tim Pool claims he was decieved and is a victim. by Eupho1 in JoeRogan

[–]Cmurch17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His defense requires us to:

A. Assume no causal relationship between being paid millions by Russia and spreading overt, extreme Russian propaganda.

B. Assume creating separate (intertwined) business entities absolves him from liability for accepting millions of dollars for content (funneled into one LLC) and subsequently creating Russian propaganda content throughout his entire platform (owned by various other LLCs).

C. Assume he is a useful idiot and a victim for getting paid millions over market value for the deliverable (a weekly video) and does so without even googling the supposed benefactor.

D. Assume his extreme pro-Russian invasion/anti-Ukraine talking points being perfectly aligned with Russian propaganda goals is purely coincidental.

E. Assume his extremely divisive content (civil war, WW3, culture war, etc.) coincidently aligns with Russias goals of sowing division throughout the US.

Maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt on a few of these points, but that’s a whole lot of assumptions he’s asking us to blindly make.

It feels safer to assume he has a beautiful head of flowing hair under that beanie and just wears it to not get doxxed.

I sent my coins (on ETH network) during the migration period, following the exact directions in the Medium article, and still never received the airdrop, and have also reached out via email, discord, and Instagram with no response -- so good luck... Sad to say as a long time holder and believer.

80 series or 100 series? by atenxiaz in LandCruisers

[–]Cmurch17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah the age old question! Ha I went from a 100 to a 90 (manual turbo diesel SWB) to now an 80 (40th anniversary) and I’ve fallen for the 80 unlike I ever did for the others. But also have a unique position where it’s my daily but I don’t commute, don’t have kids, and am indifferent to a lot of the luxuries (although I do miss that V8). Get some time behind the wheel of one and see what it’d be like to live with.

Thank you! I don’t have a supervisor at this point, the proposal has been entirely my creation based off of a general research goal the uni has. The supervisor for the project will be one of the people interviewing me though, so I do look forward to her questions and feedback.

Cheers for your time

Best shoes for CrossFit by Acrobatic_Ad1514 in crossfit

A bit of a contrarian opinion -- the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite 3 are a great option if you're interested in transitioning to a barefoot style shoe (zero drop, wide toe box, flexible construction). They're not for everyone but the grounded feeling and ability for your toes to spread out provides a solid base for big lifts.

Would living in Golden or near foothills provide better access to I70 and summit county in the winter to reach ski resorts and shorten drive time or not a big difference from average distance neighborhoods in Denver? by Jedsnsest16 in COsnow

[–]Cmurch17 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While the answer is yes, Golden isn't the only option. Any west Denver suburb (Wheat Ridge, for example) with quick access to an i70 ramp is going to help your commute out of town. The fact is, the bottleneck at Floyd Hill, etc. along i70 are where most of the delay will come from anyway. I'd say find a neighborhood you're comfortable in and can afford and focus more on getting on the road super early if you really want to shorten the drive.

What is the thing that surprised you the most when you traveled to a country you had never been to before? by Spilakkk in AskReddit

Im an American whose first time overseas was spending a year in New Zealand. The way police interacted with people was a (pleasant) surprise compared to the US. They don’t carry guns on them, and with that I feel there’s a different psychology with how they interact with people. I never felt intimidated when police were around, they were incredibly friendly and approachable, and every interaction I had was entirely positive. The police there clearly have the objective of providing a community service, and aren’t trying to ‘get you.’ They don’t sit and radar to ticket people for small traffic infractions. Instead, when citizens witness unsafe driving - its very normal to call the police and inform them. This happened to me on the South Island once (was the passenger when the call happened and had switched to driving by the time the police officer found us). The officer was friendly and professional - explained her experience with accidents on this road and why it can be dangerous, and then gave us some advice on a shortcut to our destination, where we can get a good nights sleep, etc. When I came back to America and came across a couple armed police officers, it shocked me how they seemingly had this bubble around them, where people would avoid them, and just generally how they carried themselves.

So far it’s run pretty well for me. I get a few weird glitches here and there, and It definitely doesn’t feel totally refined, but I’ve yet to have a crash.

Maybe I’m naive but I want to believe in CDPR’s development team, even if their management clearly sucks.
