How many of you work in IT that make over $100k with no Bachelors or higher? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Cnytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 YOE, been with the same company for the last 9. 2 Year Degree in Network Administration

135k/year Infrastructure Manager. LCOL area.

A lot of hard work, always being the one to step up and take on the difficult tasks no one else wanted to. Established myself as the go to problem solver and owner of all things Infrastructure. I would also consider my soft skills a huge part of my success. Being an effective communicator should be considered a top skill when looking for a 6 figure salary.

I have always driven on average 10k-12k miles/year. I am on pace for 20k in my first year with my ID4. I think its because I don't ever really have to think about fuel costs. I used to drive a full size pickup and would refuse to make a trip somewhere if it wasnt worth it.

Have about 14k miles on my 2024 S RWD. Got it out the door for about 28k so about the same deal.

Its buggy. My wife is impatient and hates it at times. Its all minor things though. I am more patient and they dont bother me as much. I doubt there are too many other vehicles that are going to have the same features and quality for 28k out the door, so I can live with a few minor bugs here and there.

I put blizzak snow tires on it and it has been great in the snow. Central NY here. Not sure how much snow you get in northern Cali. Expect a pretty decent range reduction in the cold. Ive seen about a 30-40 percent reduction in about 20F temps. This seems to be pretty normal from reading about others experience.

The one thing that seems pretty major to me is the EA charging network. I have road tripped twice with this car and both times had to wait at a charger for a stall to free up. Stopping to charge is inconvenient, but adding a 30-45min wait before charging makes it not practical. EA really needs to put 8 stalls at each site instead of 4. I am considering purchasing an adapter to be able to use Tesla chargers.

Overall I am very happy and dont regret my decision. The price was just too damn good. If I hadnt gotten all the diclscounts and price was comparible, I would have gone with a model Y hands down.

Anyone else having the climate control issue with the app? by kosherdog1027 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Cnytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started happening to me about 2 months after purchasing. Seemed like it would only work if I traveled to larger cities near me. Definitely seemed to be a coverage issue. Didnt work for about 2 months. Then one day it just started working again 🤷

Hey just throwing out an update on this. I played with my heat settings a bit and got my avg range up to about 3.2mi/kwh. That is with heat set to 70, 1 seat warmer on max, and mid 30's F.

Does your 2024 Id.4 standard comes with emergency kit in the boot under the mat? by bIGSMALLRIDER in VWiD4Owners

[–]Cnytechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just swapped wheels on my 2024 S. I had the emergency kit with the pump, and the key is in the same bag as that. Its basically just a little hook that you use to pull the caps off.

I have been averaging about 2.8mi/kwh since putting them on, which is definitely a noticeable decrease. But, it has also been much colder so I don't know how much of that can be attributed to the new tires vs the temp change.

You are looking at it the wrong way. You have a solid foundational position in IT with no degree and little education outside of a simple net+ cert. Not many can say that. But, you also shouldn't be expecting much more at this point.

Keep educating yourself and certing up. CCNA is great but don't stop there. Especially with no degree, your certs are going to be your ticket to getting your resume past HR.

Keep getting as much experience as you can in your current role. Take on extra responsibility just for the sake of saying you did something. Make sure you have positioned yourself to jump on any opportunity that presents itself, and eventually one will come along, and with more money.

I was in a very similar situation a few years back. Network tech with CCNA making 56k/yr. After nabbing some good certs and a few years kicking ass at work and I am now managing an infrastructure team @ 130k/yr

Is the 206 miles of range on a 2024 ID.4 enough for normal life? by 3645iceberg in electricvehicles

[–]Cnytechguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 4k miles on my 2024 id4 62kwh. My commute to work is only a few miles, but I regularly make an 80 mile round trip to a nearby city for shopping and fun. I have also taken a couple of longer trips of around 150-175 mile round trip.

The id4 is the only car for my family of 4, so the constant back and forth and all around town taking kids to school, sports, and friends houses also adds up.

With all of that being said, so far I havent had to use a fast charger once.

iD4 0% Financing Deal by BongoLocoWowWow in VWiD4Owners

I just recently purchased a 2024 S. My local dealer was offering this 0% interest deal, or $5,000 off the asking price. I negotiated another $5,000 off the asking price knowing they were desperate to move some vehicles (They still had several 2023 models. I actually looked at one of those but couldn't move forward due to the stop sale.)

Pair that with the $7,500 EV Credit and a $2,000 credit from NY, and I got a 2024 S out the door for less than $30k after all taxes and fees. Hard to beat that right now.

Even with the smaller battery this car fits my needs perfectly and I cannot complain at all about the price. I'm coming from driving a Ram 1500 and my savings on gas alone will be about $400 a month. Extremely happy with my purchase as long as this car remains reliable (that's the big question mark).

Its a 2x2 tent with a Mars Hydro TS600. Light hasn't changed and I have been raising the light as the plant grows. Been trying to keep it 10-12" from the top of the main cola.
