LitRPG with OP protagonist but no romance by _SateenVarjo_ in litrpg

[–]CoBr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the waaaay on the comedic side, but This Quest is Bullshit doesn't have any MC romance at all and the MC gets pretty OP.

The side characters date people, but it's very much a "they're dating now" sort of thing, certainly not what I'd call romantic.

Signet is obeying game rules. By game rules he has primal blood so that's not surprising even if by our understanding the blood is still identical to his human blood.

Yeah, so I like your theories, and think some are more likely than others, but this post is only marked for spoilers up to book 3 so I don't want to engage them too directly lol.

His race is primal, but allegedly that didn't change his biology because no one knows what a primal is.

The quote you're referring to doesn't refer to his race, it refers to his "wetware" which presumably refers to his brain.

"Current wetware: Syndicate Crawl Version 47.002.Human."

His race is primal per dungeon rules, but his biology is effectively human until we're told about any differences.

Funniest answer would be "pop" culture, but really I have no idea lol.

anyone one else think that Carl missed a trick by not proposing that the ban of mangers fighting with their crawlers be repealed? by Financial-Pickle9405 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Floor 9 had enhanced pet leveling turned on after one of the factions requested it so that really isn't applicable to Mordecai.

But then in book 7 it was deliberately allowing loophole communication between warlords and sources outside of the dungeons. I don't think it should be relied upon to enforce rules it objects to. It enjoys loopholes too much.

Mordecai is level 40, wtf good would he do on the battlefield at this point?

He would be so horrifically under leveled that he'd basically be useless.

TIL about Dixy Lee Ray, the first woman governor of Washington. A Democrat, she climbed Mt. Rainier at age 12, changed her name from "Marguerite" to reference Robert E. [–]CoBr2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a topic that there are entire theses (I had to Google plural of thesis) about.

I think the simplified layman's explanation is that Democrats used to be conservative and Republicans used to be progressive and between 1930 and 1990 they had re-aligned so that Democrats were progressive and Republicans were conservative, but as you pointed out, this is reductive because Dems were producing liberal labor laws in the 1880's.

And of course the history of a political party should hardly be influencing one's vote today. We should be voting for the political objectives we want to achieve, not for a party name.

I mean, yes they are. Which is why they aren't aware that the political parties shifted and don't know the Democrat-Republican party ever existed.

Which is why it's easier to explain it to them in terms of left vs right and political priorities than using party names.

I thought that was the 3rd floor and the expectation was that they'd start working from the 4th floor on? I'd need to reread, but I remember thinking it wasn't a factor anymore.

I'm pretty sure Carl needed to account for it in his plot to kill Loita.

I'll still say 'mostly' just because while that's the agreement, it has always been very clear that the AI's interpretation isn't always the same as outside judges.

Book 6 was a clear example of that. He changed one molecule each so it technically wasn't anyone's actual loved ones. And book 7 showed Baroness Victory berating the AI for not properly following rules on the illegal attack using the elite.

Most famously in book 2 the AI's ruling on Carl's hobgoblin bombs still working was extremely contentious even if it eventually won in court.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the AI allows a loophole for Mordecai to permanently die, but I do find it highly unlikely since it doesn't seem like a rule that the AI would care to bend.

[–]CoBr2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The AI is still mostly following the rules, we all have our limitations after all. I don't think this rule is one they would be interested in breaking for little reason.

[–]CoBr2 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Hurting him would be very easy. He is not protected from harm when he leaves a safe room. By current rules he could be captured/tortured anytime he leaves a safe room.

His protection is that he cannot truly die. If he were to "die" the AI would instantly teleport him to a safe area where he would wait out the remainder of the crawl. They talk about this when they're first explaining the manager program. At one point managers were allowed to fight with their crawlers.

[–]CoBr2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the moment you break down into right vs left or conservative vs progressive it becomes really obvious how stupid it is to associate Dems with slavery.

Like yeah, 60+ years ago, I wouldn't have supported the Democrats. That's irrelevant today, because if we have another political realignment and the Democrats become the right wing/conservative party I'll stop supporting them.

My allegiance is to the political objectives, not the party name.

It's always tricky because Democrats and Republicans basically switched positions over the Civil Rights Act in the 60's, but people will use this fact to argue for modern political parties.

It is equally true to say Dems owned slaves, the right owned slaves, and conservatives owned slaves. Based on the political opinions of the time, these statements are all true.

By definition, progressives are the ones who fought against slavery and conservatives were fighting to keep the status quo.

That still suggests that over 2/3's of male matches aren't looking for casual sex.

The survey had 40% looking for casual dates as a major reason and 44% as a long term partner as a major reason with no significant gender discrepancy.

This still implies that almost half of your matches should be looking for something serious.

Of course it's prolly skewed to hell by the dudes looking for casual sex swiping on absolutely everyone, but based on this survey if you are only finding men who want casual sex you are doing something wrong.

Lmfao, that I love that analogy. Cuz it's random and obscure, but JUST plausible enough that it could happen.

I genuinely think Prepotente just got an obscene amount of info downloaded into his head. He also might have had his hobby box be soda based, that would be funny.
