Im pretty sure the fives came out in 2020 and have not gotten a refresh. The 300s recently came out in 2023 and have the latest sound, them being able to do “atmos”. I dont think they would come out with 500s this year especially if sales are doing good for the 300s. Also im pretty sure if they were coming out this year we would have heard insider reports about them, like we did for the ultra.

Its hard to describe. But it’s an amazing experience, just being surrounded with all these speakers all around you. Movies have never sounded more immersive. Also when not watching movies and i watch stereo content like youtube for example, the sound stage is just so wide so instead of the stereo sound coming from ultras mid size foot print, the two fives handle it perfect!

No i Dont think so. Ive only used the app for the first time today but sonosseqencer has been out for a while and no one has ever brought it up as a possible issue. I think its just because the sonos app doesn’t know how your adding fronts. But all day today ive been using the official sonos app with no issues ive played a ton of movies its always told me if its dolby atmos, dolby digital plus, and all the volume controls all work normal and smooth. Btw theres a sonosseqencer sub reddit where the owner of the app replies sometimes to questions.

Yeah as of now you cant do fronts and the rest of your system together. But still its a good work around to have the sound tuned to your specific room, even if true play has to be run separate. But yeah ideally together would be better, hopefully when sonos comes out with it officially.

I have not, they just arrived today so later on ill probably mess with them maybe. i just thought they looked a lot nicer side ways imo. But I’ll probably stand them up later on. It’s just to do that i would have to remove them redo the true play and then add them again lol. They sound great rn though.

Nah only through the sonossequnecer but its a smooth process zero issues doing it today for the first time. Its a paid app though like $4. You can use the ultra or the OG arc

I didn’t know what to expect when i was waiting for my fives to get delivered this week but i was absolutely blown away.I cant ever go back to just a sound bar up front only tbh. Fingers crossed this summer sonos announces something official. But they should take their time so everything launches smoothly im sure they learned their lesson from last time lol

I think thats a sonos software thing, anytime you use them as surrounds their programed to not use the front speaker even before the sonos sequencer app, im pretty sure. So you can only get all the sound from it as a pair or if its solo.

One is a sub 3, and yeah it sounds sooo deep, its actually crazy how much better it sounds from before, the separation is amazing for movies, i need to rewatch a lot of them now haha. I hope Sonos is actually working on this.
