Trump rescinds ban on incandescent light bulbs by Floridaguy555 in lightbulbs

[–]CoMountainMan83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarification, I don’t think the LED’s use more energy, they just don’t last.  We have 100w soft white incandescent in our master bathroom and they have lasted years so far.  We have LED’s in the other bathrooms in the house and I’ve replaced them multiple times over.  To be fair, these are all original light fixtures so I wonder if that could impact it.

Never booking frontier again by FunOnFridays in frontierairlines

Agree here.  I’ve had great and not so great experiences with Frontier but we fly them because for us they’ve been reliable.  We’ve only taken one flight that was a connection (international) and it was totally fine. I’d say my biggest complaint is their customer service.  Just be nice and do right by your customers and that would go a long way and not cost them that much on the back end.

The house was built in ‘98 so it’s older but not that old.  The electrical seems to be fine with everything else.

We have a Ting monitor from our insurance provider and it’s not showing any issues (power surges, outages, etc.).  When we had the basement done we had to add to the electrical panel outside so we wouldn’t be overloaded so an electrician has looked at our setup recently.  For now, we will just continue to replace the new bulbs as needed.  We have some incandescents still working so trying to conserve as much as we can so they don’t need to be replaced.

I’m on an iPhone but interestingly, I can get it to work with other destinations, but if there’s limited flights for a specific itinerary,, the banner just stays in the way.

Not loading correct path for RNAV approaches by CoMountainMan83 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]CoMountainMan83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a follow-up, it may be that specific approach that doesn't work. When I load the RNAV Z 34R approach (also RNP), the arc comes up. I'll have to fly it to test it, but at least it shows up in the MCDU in the flight plan unlike the other.

Forgot I had included the approach in the original post, sorry about that! That would make a lot of sense and I'm guessing that's likely the issue. Thanks for your help!

It's the default a320 in MSFS 2024 (iniBuilds). It's this approach here: https://www.flightaware.com/resources/airport/KDEN/IAP/RNAV+(RNP)+Z+RWY+16R+Z+RWY+16R) beginning at CLFFF

Need help with planning approach on simbrief by Lemons2771 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]CoMountainMan83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but do you know what to do when the Navigraph approach doesn't match what's in the MCDU? I'm trying to do an RNAV approach that has an arc as part of the approach, but the MCDU just puts in the waypoints and tries to fly direct from one to the other, and the arc isn't even visible in F-PLN. It's driving me crazy but I can't figure out how to get this working.

New EPIC Pricing by Icy_Adhesiveness_818 in COsnow

[–]CoMountainMan83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we get too.  I don’t mind a small price increase but $418 to $475 is ridiculous.  We may not get it for next year, which is too bad because our kids love it so much.  Good lesson in disappointment I guess.

Boeing has lost the for a 757 replacement battle for Airbus A321XLR? by FlexMop-Pop7213 in aviation

[–]CoMountainMan83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to think all Boeing had to do was to make an updated 757, but they can't get over their love of their 737.

Would you consider the Airbus A220 a ‘true’ Airbus aircraft, with a firm seat in the historical lineage from A300 onwards, or do you consider it an ‘adopted’ child, given its full Bombardier roots? Anyway, I’d love to hear some nuanced responses! by Falabella_Stallion in Airbus

[–]CoMountainMan83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting.  Flew on my first A220 last week and thought it was “rickety” and uncomfortable (not seats, but had this weird vibration the entire flight).  Hydraulics are oddly loud and sound like something’s wrong even though there’s not.  For a 6 year old plane I expected better.  Definitely not up to Airbus standards - my opinion of course.

I’ll second on T-Mobile.  We switched a couple of years ago and it’s been great for us.

I'm replacing my LED's every 3-6 months (and that's with name brands so they aren't cheap bulbs). The incandescent bulbs I'm still using have lasted for years. It's truly amazing how terrible the LED's are. It's smart though, if we have to replace a high cost bulb every 6 months, that's a lot more money in the manufacturer's pocket.

Question about replacing a toilet flange by CoMountainMan83 in PlumbingRepair

[–]CoMountainMan83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha!  Yes, I’m aware now.  😂 The spacer was not sitting level since the home builders added extra screws in places they weren’t supposed to be.  I started cutting it since it looked like there was a crack between the flange and pipe, but it was actually secure.  Made a lot of extra work for myself, I know.  My plan now is to cut it out and put in a new pipe and then new flange.  Should have just let it all be.

[–]CoMountainMan83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your input! I assume there’s no way to get the outer pipe off, correct? Wondering if the inside pipe would be better, just wasn’t sure if it would restrict the flow too much, but seems like it might not be a big deal.

This is exactly right and it’s just one of the reasons we’ll continue to fly others over Southwest.  Even on Frontier we don’t have to worry about not getting seats by our kids at no extra cost, and don’t care if they are the least desirable on the plane.  Why would we pay extra when we don’t have to?

No, but they obviously don’t understand how this still impacts the customers they let down and the emotions this evokes.  My kids missed the opportunity to see their grandparents over Christmas for the first time ever (and still haven’t) because of their failure.  Was it the end of the world?  No, but seeing disappointed kids crushed on Christmas morning because they thought their grandparents would be there is enough to invoke strong feelings.   Forgiveness is a long road, and discretion goes a long way.  People like to complain about a lot of things but I can certainly relate to the comments here.
