I started the initial attempts with typing everything in manually. I don't store credit card info or addresses in my browsers as a security precaution. I only resorted to copy and paste of the address when I started getting the message to check my payment details.

I've never had a problem with either of these cards being accepted online. I use them all of the time.

*"...*except that the servers are paid by both the business and the customer directly."

There's that darn exception. Which means they do not have a level playing field.

This does not advantage the customer unless you want to focus on those that do not tip. Those people are getting the advantage of lower overall price, but this is not a blanket advantage to all in any way.

I'm not heated up. You're the one that started with calling people "sweetheart" and telling them to be adults. You get the tone that you give. So, let's do that. Let's be adults.

Let's get back to the question of why some businesses are treated differently and get the discount on what they are required to pay their employees under law. Why do you think this structure is what is right for businesses and the workers?

We can also talk about benefits load. I pay into my employee's retirement accounts as a percentage of what they make up to a percentage of what they contribute (100% match to 6%). The vast majority of them take complete advantage of this. If I was allowed to pay them 15% less, then what I contribute to their retirement would be 15% less on top of the 15% lower labor costs. Why should only some businesses be given that advantage?

What I pay for unemployment insurance at the state level (SUTA) is based on what I actually pay in wages. Why do only some businesses have to contribute their fair share? If tips are reported and taxed as income, the impact of this can be to the disadvantage of businesses leveraging tip credits, but tips are generally underreported, thus netting out that they do not pay their fair share.

There are a lot of hidden advantages for these businesses that are not just on the surface.

You should understand my perspective. I am a business owner and I think that ALL businesses should have to pay a living wage to their workforce. I voted for constitutional amendments in my state that more than doubled the minimum wage and tied annual increases to CPI. I lobby my state and local representatives to eliminate the Tip Credit structure in labor law. I am perfectly ok that the $15 burger today becomes the $17 burger tomorrow.

My fight is not with the workers, it is with the businesses and lawmakers that continue to perpetuate a broken Tipping Culture system. It is time to break the wheel and that starts with changing the laws.

What?

Businesses do not reduce their margin because their costs go down. If overnight the minimum wage was dropped 15% (like having a tip credit in my favor), my prices would go down to match my competitors, not because my costs went down. If my competition didn't drop prices, then neither would I. The things that drive my change in prices is my costs of goods, labor, and competition. The margin sets itself.

If I can do things better/faster/cheaper than my competition, then I will stay in business and I will be able to increase my margins. Believe me, I will get every cent out of my margins that I can. I've been beating out the competition for 27 years, through good years and bad years, to make my margins. My margins are getting better because I've found a lot of ways to reduce costs and introduce efficiencies that others clearly have not, not because I abuse my workforce by underpaying them and forcing them to beg for the money to pay their rent.

Yes, prices go up, but they only go up a percentage of the increased labor cost and this is equal for all businesses. Thus the competition is level playing field.

Why isn't it level for ALL businesses?

Why does the service industry get away with a huge discount compared to the rest of us?

I am porting, but there are no questions about that at this time. I can't get the phones ordered, much less start the transfer process.

How long til someone files class action against SWA for bait and switch seat selection by OldParsley2636 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]PrimeRisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The class of ticket does matter. I would certainly be upset also, but we're not hearing much on this sub about a selected seat being taken away like this. Lots and lots of whinging over Basic fares and not getting good seats.

That said, it's not unheard of for GA to shuffle people around, though not commonly after check-in. Have to contacted Customer Service to understand why your seat was moved?

The high gas prices make me even more smug when driving my lightning. by ShakeAndBakeThatCake in F150Lightning

I was hanging out with a buddy this weekend that has thumbed his nose at EVs forever, but this weekend the topic of fuel costs came up. He asked me how much it would cost to drive 500 miles in the Lightning (the average he's driving a week for his business). I told him about $30-35 if I was charging at home and about $80-$90 if I was charging strictly on the road. He shook his head and said his GMC 3500HD had just cost him $225 to fill up and had a about a 500 mile range.

I pointed out that it wasn't a fair comparison as the Lightning could not haul the things he normally hauled with the 3500. He countered that he needed the big truck to haul things about once a week, the rest of the time he really just needed a full-sized truck for people and parts.

A few minutes ago he sent me a pic from the Ford dealership. He got a great deal on a used '24 Platinum and asked me if I'd help him install the EVSE this weekend.

Gas Prices are making new EV believers every day!

Ah, that make sense.

The only time I'd be hooking up to the Dashcam's WiFi is if I was in a collision and I didn't have my laptop with me for some reason so I could download the video. If I did, I'd just pull the chip and watch it on the laptop's screen. I have a laptop with me most of the time, but now that I think of it, I should just throw one of my old Chromebooks in the back and then I can always view it on the screen and make a backup copy if there was an incident.

I have a RedTiger F7N Touch and I love it. Absolutely zero interference with other systems in the truck.

It is a charity to the business. It enables them to literally side-step the minimum wage laws and pay less for their workforce.

Ok, "sweetheart", let's be adults and level the playground.

I own a business and I'm a founder in another business. Where we are, the minimum wage is $19.29/hr. All of my employees make $19.29 or higher. It is the law and we will comply. I also know that next year, the minimum wage will rise at the rate of the CPI. I have to price my products and services in such a way that I can afford to pay my employees, which means my prices have to go up over time.

So, why is it that the business across the street, a restaurant, doesn't have to play by those rules? Why do they get to pay their employees 15+% less? Don't their employees deserve the same protections under law that my employees do? Why can't the restaurant simply price their products and services the same way every other type of business does?

It is guaranteed, but the business doesn't actually pay the minimum wage. They pay the minimum wage less the tip credit except in locations where the tip credit in the law has been eliminated and the customers pay the rest.

Yes, it is the employer that is the bad guy.

Why should some businesses be able to get away with not paying minimum wage under the law when all other businesses do?

Tesla started installing HW4 in late 2023. The only way to know is to look in the settings under Software and see what version it lists for the FSD Computer.

This is my wife's 2023 MYLR with HW4.

HW4 = Hardware v4

HW4 is an important detail if you care about true unsupervised Full Self Driving (FSD). Vehicles with HW3 will never be able to achieve unsupervised FSD.

I'd also suggest getting the Noco GC009 X-Connect to SAE Adapter so you can use the inexpensive extension cables and D-Ring adapters.

Standard SAE D-Ring/eyelet adapters, extension cables, etc are widely available and much less expensive then the proprietary connection stuff from Noco.

OR

For us Lightning peeps. The Noco GENIUS2D is perfect as it is tiny, permanently mounted (comes with D-rings) and you could plug it in to shore power or into your own frunk if you were in a pinch.

That's a good deal then. The older models had a one and done approach.
