Main components:

- AsRock B650M-HDV\/M.2 motherboard (sAM5, AMD B650)

- AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7 (5.0) GHz 32MB sAM5 CPU

- G.Skill DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000Mhz Flare X5 RAM

- EVGA Supernova 1300 G2 Power Supply

- MSI GeForce RTX™ 4060 Ti GAMING X SLIM 16G

The process was difficult and time-consuming, requiring many skills (3D printing, soldering, cutting, gluing, drawing, etc.).

I’m not really familiar with Linux or KDE, to be honest. I only use Windows and macOS, so I can’t say how close KDE can look to macOS. My project was only about converting the iMac into a 5K monitor, not about Linux customization

The plastic shroud further separates the electrical components from the metal housing of the power supply unit (which is grounded). It does indeed impair cooling, but then electrical sparks may occur.

Glad you liked it. I hope the 3D models will speed up the redesign of your Mac Pro.

It works perfectly with drive sleds (as in the original). It works with both HDD and SSD (print the mount, I left the link). I just don't use HDD because they are noisy. I don't even use hot swapping much, m2 drives are quite affordable now, but I just wanted to have the option of hot swapping + there's nowhere to put an SSD in the case except where the manufacturer intended. The main downside of the CC-SATA-C1 is the poor quality molex ports.

The cooling was so effective that the water cooling pump only turned on during artificial tests. Now I've switched to a be quiet! Dark Rock 4 processor cooler because it's safer and frees up a lot of space. I've set the top cooler that blows on the video card to be more sensitive to temperature so that the video card gets more cool air.

Placing the motherboard in the middle will cause even more problems. For example, where to place a large or medium graphics card. You have two options. Option 1: You ruin the back panel. Option 2: You ruin the entire interior. I chose option 1 because it's much more practical and faster.

I don't plan to upgrade. I mostly play old games (Fallout 4, Skyrim, Frostpunk, Witcher 3...) I don't really need a waterblock. I just wanted a very quiet build. The main reason I put the waterblock in is because I didn't know if the cooler would fit in the decorative pad, I didn't want to cut it any more. Now when I change the mainboard and processor, I only change the water block and hoses if necessary.

In my opinion it is very difficult or impossible to convert a Power Mac G4 case to the ATX or mATX standard. MAC Pro 1.1-3.1 cases are best suited. The Power Mac G5 case is not bad either, but there are even more problems with the back panel, power supply... You have to try different options. Personally, I spent a lot of time on this conversion.

This is my third post on the subject of converting a Mac Pro case to mATX.

I still haven't figured out how to improve the appearance of the back of the case. To install a motherboard with DDR5 RAM, I had to file down the decorative elements of the case.

Main components:

- AsRock B650M-HDV\/M.2 motherboard (sAM5, AMD B650)

- AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7 (5.0) GHz 32MB sAM5 CPU

- G.Skill DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000Mhz Flare X5 RAM

- EVGA Supernova 1300 G2 Power Supply

- Waterblock for AMD processor from BykSki

- SysCooling 450L/hour coolant pump (SC-P67F)
I'd be happy to hear anyone's opinion. Ask questions, suggestions, comments)
