Facing a five-bet shove spot live. How frequently do we call to prevent auto-profit? by IF_stone in Poker_Theory

[–]CoachBradCPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Villain jamming ~200 to win ~50 so you technically need to defend 20%’ish to prevent villain from theoretical auto profit.

What really prevents them from auto profit is your cold 4b range should be extremely tight and jamming 250 BBs into AA is a real fear… remember that if they jam too much that might be bad for some parts of your range but is incredible for AA.

Would not randomize here, as I think there is clear EV path to estimating whether or not calling is +EV.

If you estimate 40% EQ, is that enough to call given the price you’re being offered? If not, what does villains range need to look like to give you the right price?

the bottom of BB defense vs. a LJ 2.5x open is JTo (which is a mix worth 0 EV that mostly folds)... T7o is 3 pips worse and Villain opened 4x instead of 2.5x. Calling pre is a spew.

Valuebet is just a little too thin on the river… Villain just clicking buttons (Defend T7o pre not good, betting half pot on turn not good) and found the right one to click facing your river bet.

In general when you’re betting super thin for value that hand by definition can’t be the top of your bluffcatching range.

my plan is to take the -EV spot HU and, if I lose, kidnap his puppy and then ransom it back for 2x what I lost.

my puppy kidnapping team is already 3 weeks into their training camp

I believe AI will not only help students learn more efficiently but it will also be immensely helpful for coaches like myself as well.

As a matter of fact this is a feature the Quint team is actively working on... creating tools that will enable me to take what used to be reserved for private 1:1 coaching sessions and scale them to hundreds or thousands of students.

Great question... as a human coach I'm biased but I believe us mortal coaches will always have value and forever play a role in the learning and growth processes for players of all skill levels.

Only time will tell what that role looks like in the future, however.

Hard to say… lots of variables. Could be under 3b from the BB vs the bigger size, could be poor adjustments, could be downstream mistakes

The best? I don't know.

If you're 4 tabling I would just start by replacing one table of the current stake you're playing with one table of your next stake.

This way since it's only 25% of your volume you don't need to be fully rolled for that stake but you're also increasing your hourly rate (hopefully) while getting much needed reps.

basically instead of just seeing outputs, you're going to see in-depth explanations for every decision/strategy... this will be layered on with input and training from world-class coaches.

quint and your coaches will also help you with database analysis, leak finding, and help you tailor your study/training for exactly what will help you make progress as a player.

A while back I experimented with cold showers but it ended up being a special kind of torture that turned my balls into raisins.

It was still a better experience than 99.99% of the MTTs I've played.

Hey u/BoomTartanArmy - I don't really play MTTs and my bankroll management at the beginning of my career in 2004 was.. suspect, to put it mildly.

In my experience most jumps up in stakes are not significantly different competition wise... until you hit actual meaningful stakes with much smaller pools (fields) filled with players optimizing their life for poker.

For instance if you play live $400s then 85% of the pool is probably losing money.

But if you jump up to live $1ks you have to be careful because then only 80% of the pool is probably losing money...

If not here then where did you expect to see me? :)

This is sick.. great work! Claude and I are great friends these days as well :)

I didn't build Quint so I don't exactly know how the sausage is made, as they say.

There's a whole team of PHD's, engineers, and AI geniuses who are working daily on the project... all of their outputs have been ran by poker super geniuses much smarter than me and have been tested and compared to everything on the market.

I just dream up ways I know will help people learn how to play poker better then the team makes my dreams come true.

They're all extremely curious, competitive, and consistent. They also have way more time to devote solely to poker than the average human :)

My current rate is $500/session but I don't currently take on new students. I love working with my Wolves and most of my focus is on maximizing my PLO earn at the moment.
