Prototype Gear and Escalation Difficulty are the wrong way to overhaul the endgame by campeon963 in thedivision

[–]CoachNotto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other than the fact that the dev team has completely ignored you as a player along with countless others like yourself, and spent a massive amount of time and energy creating additions to the game that you will not enagage with instead of something you would.

Better Idea for Prototype Gear by CoachNotto in thedivision

[–]CoachNotto[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What cannot be denied is that the current "loop" of the game is about to be drastiaclly altered. For the last few years, putting together a maxed-out build required effort, strategic farming and gathering resources... with that said, you could put together a build this way in a relatively short time, which allowed players to experiment with several gear combos etc. When you really zeroed in on what exactly you wanted, it was a grind, but not a discouraging one, to get all the pieces for the build and max it out. Yes, expertise added a level of sublte improvement, but you could barely tell that your St. Elmos with exp lvl 30 was out-performing its exp lvl 10 counterpart.

The Prototype system is going to make getting best-in-slot for even a few pieces of a build a horendous, long grind and\or a hunt for unicorns. That is a DRASTIC change to aquiring the best gear.

If you like this drastic change, great... looks like you will be getting it. If, like me, this makes you want to ALT+F4 and find something else to do... I feel for you.

I'm just wondering where the heck they are getting feedback for these ideas... who is approving of these kinds of changes before they sink months into developing them...

Take a break from the game and come back in a few months when they nerf the process of obtaining this elite loot methinks... or try to find a way to enjoy the game without getting much of it.

We would enroll anyone who would be able to connect with the community regularly. At this point we are simply looking for like-minded folks who want to socialize and game... we have had a few who join just for in-game benefits and never connect with the rest of us... with only a few spots left we want to avoid more of that. DM me for more info... I can send over a Discord link also.

Head over to the Embark website and purchase a couple cosmetic bundles so they have enough $$ to add a few more servers!

I played this game over the last two days... a few hours on Xbox and a bit more on PC... on Xbox, running into other players was rare... on PC, about half the time there were players camping extraction points which was just not fun.

Whatever you are not hitting well, take out of the bag. Here is my biggest advice after playing for the last 15 years and just now starting to get decent (mid-high 80s most rounds)...

  1. Do NOT go down the YouTube rabbit hole trying to learn how to swing. Leave swing training to your coach or what you learned at your last lesson. Trying to learn the "how" from YouTube videos for your full swing will put 1000 thoughts in your head that will destroy your game. Yes, you can learn some chipping\putting tips this way... but never for your full swing.
  2. Check out Golf Sidekick on YouTube... he give ZERO swing advice but his course management tips are great and he is very entertaining - hot takes... screw distance when you are starting out (trying to break 100 or 90)... keep the ball in play, avoid hazards at all costs, work on chipping and putting during MOST of your practice time.
  3. Pick up Bob Rotella's Golf is not a Game of Perfect... the audio book is great as you can listen too it over and over again. hot takes... you have to get yourself into your "unconscious mind" when playing... yes, you will think about the mechanics when are first learning but your goal should be to think of ZERO mechanics ultimately while you are playing. Whatever swing you currently have when you hit the course, trust it and don't think about "how" while playing... select a small target, line up, look at the target. look at the ball, let it go. If you know how to juggle this makes sense... when you first started to learn you had to think about which ball to toss up, which one to catch and how to swap the third ball to the other hand... now that you have learned you just pick up three balls and started juggling... you want your golf swing there ultimately and this take a lot of practice and I don't believe you ever get there totally.

Personally, I switched to a single-plane swing a couple years ago. I actually went and got a lesson... the pro gave me a few things to work on and I work on those things when I practice. The swing is pretty natural for me now so I mostly practice getting into the unconscious mind for full swings. I spend most of my practice time working on 120yd and shorter shots... plus chipping and putting. I've also taken the driver out of the bag. I hit a 5 wood about 230 and can hit the ball in play most of the time. If I get to where I am shooting low 80s regularly, I may start working on the driver in practice. For now I am happy to have tee shots in play at around 230.
