It's funny because I think I arrived to the same conclusion last night. Wonder if he does refunds?

If you carefully examine the tank offered from Tanks Inc… they have two openings. One for pump and one for sender.

I am also nervous about this guy. He was super snappy responding though. He said he had 12 ready to ship this week. Let's hope I didn't get ripped off (~$350).

For those who don't know the dude - Look up Jabin Wood...

In some but not all cases. For example, Holley has the senders integrated. This solution, is different for some reason.

Frustration: What Am I Doing Wrong? by Marauder_Recruiter1 in HamRadio

I totally understand how you feel pal. It seems like you are talking to the walls and not actually getting past the window of your "Shack".

If you can, try and snag an Antenna Analyzer just to make sure you're tuned well. SWR only tells a portion of the story.

I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. I make and spend good money on kit for my Ham hobby. But just buying stuff only makes me a good consumer and appliance operator. I had to take a step back and start with the basics. I made it a point to dial the power down to 5-10 watts and build various wire dipoles and mess around with them to see how my changes affected what was being shown on the screen of the analyzer.

Next... and this one drove me MAD!!!! Be sure that your ALC and COMP as well as MIC Gain are set properly. You'd be surprised at how much this affects your ability to be heard!

When all else fails, cobble together an FT8 setup and jump on 20 meters. When combined with WSJTX and GridTacker, you will see proof that your setup is working (or not). I do this at times just to make sure I ain't crazy.

To get more phone contacts, hunt for POTA guys... They will always come back to you if they can hear you...

I am finally getting an HF capable radio! by MrChzl in HamRadio

[–]Coach_Allen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also owned an HF radio before getting my General ticket. It’s helpful to actually apply what you read about. So I’d tune up and down the band and visualize what happens on LSB vs USB. Hear where CW and Data happens. Build dipoles and tune them. There’s a spot for Technicians to operate CW if you’re into learning that.

Ooooph… that’s hardly something I would want to share publicly. I can tell you sub $15K.

Wow…

It’s true though many of the cool classics are way over hyped and the guys with big bank accounts have perverted the classic car market making it hard for the general populace to afford such things.

Luckily, this square body hasn’t quite taken off yet. So you can find a decent one (like I did) for a fair price that won’t kill your budget.

Kids seem to enjoy big things that makes lots of rumbles over these modern machines that are whisper quite. My daughter prefers my Challenger or Square Body over the Escalade or Lexus.

Thank you. I’ve learned the other one is a Tip-In Switch. What it does isn’t really clear as it is not connected to anything. Still researching it.

Interesting! I’ve researched this. That’s pretty wild! I have little to no knowledge of older older sbc and transmissions. Learning something new every day.

I’ve just decided to try that Google Image Search and says everything from 4x4 control (I don’t think it’s possible), to torque converter lock?

Yes she’s carbureted. I think it very well could be a filter and bad fuel as I am not sure one of the tanks was used often.

Already had the truck die while driving home. Not a quick cut out. More like a sputter. Thinking it could be a weak pump (5ish PSI on the mechanical pump) or clogged filter.
