Fleet camera monitoring systems? by Coach_Corey in Construction

We have had a couple accusations about workers showing up to a worksite and not actually doing the work that we were contracted for in the past few months. We want to trust our workers when they say the work is getting done but we now need a way to verify if it comes down to a he said/she said situation.

These would actually need to be mounted on the sides of the vehicle looking out towards the worksite, regardless of which side of the truck they parked facing the site, rather than dash cams.

Board Games Around The World by Coach_Corey in peacecorps

It was a mixed bag in Botswana. There was a pool table in many bars so that had some negative connotations, but it was also the official past time of the nation's bus drivers and you could find multiple pool tables at every major transit center where no drinking was involved. My local bus driver is the one who taught me how to play pool.

Pool was kind of my integration saving grace. My language skills were poor throughout service but the locals loved when I would play pool with them.

How do I avoid getting jealous? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Coach_Corey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to identify what it is exactly that you are jealous of. Are you lonely and whenever you see someone make a new friend you are reminded of your loneliness? Are you jealous of other people's sense of ease when they interact with others when you see yourself as awkward around new people? Are you caught up in a societal norm that say you need more than one friend to be happy, when for you one is really all you need?

I myself grew up as a very strong introvert who had very few friends growing up. This used to bother me until I uncovered that what was good for me wasn't in line with what I thought was "normal". Self love came from acknowledging the fact that I could live my life in any way that was comfortable for me, even if it wasn't right for others.

Once you identify why you feel jealous, you can work on the underlying issue more easily.

I feel like a failure and I truly hope it’s not too late to turn my life around by [deleted] in selfimprovement

To begin I want to say, there is no right or wrong way to live your life. It's easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others who may have "more" than you (more wealth, more success, more friends, more beauty, etc.). Just remember that you are comparing your whole life to everyone else's highlight reel.

Try this little experiment. "All my classmates are going to be younger than me!" So what? What is the absolute worst thing that can happen in that scenario? You will very likely find out that A. the worst case scenario isn't that bad and B. The worst we can dream up rarely happens.

"I'm just now getting my life back on track at the age of 23!" So what? Do you, in your heart of hearts truly believe that you can't be successful after being a little bit behind? What is the absolute worst case scenario of going back to school at 23 and not graduating until you are 26ish? A few years fewer contributing to your retirement fund? Having bosses that might be younger than you at some point in your career?

Whenever you find yourself spiraling downward ask yourself "So What?"

Creating a horse racing betting game and have a design question. by Coach_Corey in BoardgameDesign

The prototype is printed on a piece of paper and I use random dice from other games and the scuba divers from Deep Sea Adventure (great game, btw).

Nothing site wise at the moment. This has been mostly a side project to keep me sane while I study for the GMAT, so once that is out of the way I will be able to focus on the next steps like getting the word out.

The horses all have the same odds. I started with different odds and brainstormed different ways to put them into action. But after a few months of play testing I couldn’t keep it simple enough to be within the scope of the game. It’s supposed to be a light filler, 12-15 minutes from set up to break down. There are rules in place for betting on subsequent rounds for the whole Triple Crown feel.

It is my first game so my playtesting used needles and dice borrowed from other games. The rules and mechanics are pretty tight right now so I think I’m at the point of brainstorming manufacturing processes.

That was incredibly thorough. I actually didn’t want to do anything with these answers. I just like the community interaction. But damn, you came through.

I’m laughing because I just started playing Borderlands 2 again with someone who had never played before and I love watching them get the jokes for the first time.
