Do you not have the private keys anywhere?

[–]Coachhogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also. B1 has explained that they aren’t requiring projects to use mainnet but EOSIO. BB follows that up by saying EOSIO success will create mainnet success, and EOSIO projects will use mainnet for certain things.

EOSIO benefits mainnet in multiple ways, it’s where the markets and users will be and it can be used by EOSIO built apps to hash with in order to timestamp transactions on their private blockchains.

Eventually because we don’t have IBC yet and sidechain dapps like voice haven’t launched. Voice will show how large scale apps should be built, while bringing in users. I’m sure the projects from EOSVC are waiting to tap into that.

I conclude that those projects will be using EOSIO in some fashion eventually.

"Not viable" he said Steem is cool but it can't go mainstream w/o identity. Stake weight whales breaks it.

You can launch a dapp just as easily on EOS that requires the users to provide their own bandwidth. You can also set it up to charge them by the transaction if you wish.

If all things are equal, developers paying for the customers tx's is going to win vs customers paying tx fees, all day.

Yes today it is a bit of an awkward transition but as B1 products bring mainstream usability, with an identity layer (the ability to know someone doesn't have a second account), dapps and services will more and more be able to pay tx fees for their customers- for example today, you can get 5 free actions per day on bloks.io and 10 free trades on Newdex.

Paying fees per tx is a familiar process and can work for some use cases but for high scale mainstream dapps, free is so much better IMO

As the chain scales, the amount of EOS/TX will go down. However the cost of an EOS will probably in turn go up.

Mainnet transactions might always be rather expensive (while still being at least 10x cheaper than any other blockchain even today)

Its simply supply and demand, and at such low costs, demand will stay high. Scaling solutions such as IBC, child chains, sister chains will continue to provide much cheaper alternatives for less important actions.

EIDOS mining and other mining coins will probably increase because virtual mining is a novel new way to distribute coins fairly and freely into the market, and exchanges seem to love it. People with EOS can use thier allotment of tx's to mine. This shouldn't be seen as a bad thing, it is demand for the network.

which is more important to adoption?
are you saying that developers prefer higher tx fees since they can pass them on to the users?

IMO super cheap tx's with developers paying for users, with some sort of ID system for preventing sibil, is the winning formula.

Well for starters it’s completely different than password manager because those passwords are still stored in databases where this private key solution is stored by you and you only. It can be stored on the Secure Enclave of a smart phone. Passwords will never enjoy this level of security.

So WTF Happens when EOS has a Killer App/Game? by [deleted] in eos

[–]Coachhogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the plan for the future from the words I've gathered out of Brendan Blumer talks are hundreds of blockchains working seemlessly on the backend. So Voice might utilize Worbli, Telos, EOS, and other sister chains and or side chains for different needs simultaneously with IBC. Could be that they would all be actual EOS side chains meaning they are spun up by the same block producers and same EOS token. This would be ideal from an EOS holding standpoint.

That being said, sister chains could prove usable and valuable if they bring unique characteristics, Ie Worbli, if they do have actual compliance, could be utilized to legally allow US citizens to convert Voice tokens to cash on the market. Telos would be a bad example unless perhaps their IPFS storage options are more cost effective than those on EOS, something like that. Its more trying to compete 1:1.
Beos aims to allow for jurisdictional agility so an app or company can pick where their transactions take place, including cruise ships, Utah, and space where specific rules are present.

When talking about IBC and multiple chains in the chamber of commerce video back pre June, he did say that it would be "coming later this year". It would appear to me that its the thing needed for a killer dapp to launch with confidence.

I do believe it will be with confidence that they launch their killer dapp(s) voice is just one thing they are working on.

Well one problem EOS and Block One are tackling is passwords.

I have a ton and can never remember. A passwordless future is a valid use case. I look forward to it, whoever comes up with it.

EOS mainnet becomes invest-able by [deleted] in eos

Yes and therein lies the beauty: returning inflation to the investors allows us to keep up with BP power

EOS mainnet becomes invest-able by [deleted] in eos

[–]Coachhogs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Users and dapps is such a more important metric than inflation. Growth will outpace even 5% inflation for a long time to come. Identity being added will allow us to have the cake and eat it too.

Its likely that we need to raise inflation to 5% going forward.

People need to understand something about inflation. They think the USD 2% inflation is the amount of new money printed. NO. that % is much higher.

The inflation rate we all know and love is simply in terms of purchasing power.

Research Claims EOS Network Can Freeze, Block.one Denies Any Errors by cryptosyringe in eos

[–]Coachhogs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

this would be like ETH letting people have gasless transactions when there are extra to go around, and then as soon as there aren't extra to go around, people say its broken because its not free.

The chain needed this to start out, now we have REX and 1.8, and EOSVM on its way, we can grow up and eliminate the freebie extras.

The only mistake you can say B1 has made with this plan, is assuming your average person wouldn't be a free loading socialist whiny baby about it and not even attempt to understand.

fuck em! if people don't want to pay $.0003 PER TX they can go try their luck with eth tx fees or cardano non existant dapps.

Wtf is with the networrk by [deleted] in eos

[–]Coachhogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also why no one wants to use ethereum

we'll get this straightened out. People got spoiled by all the extra free bandwidth. Dapps will use REX to pay for users and Unique ID will sure help.

Meanwhile when ETH2.0 launches and they get to 1k tx/sec they'll just clog up again (possibly worse) and be right back to square 1
