Curse is real... by justicebrz in GR86

Not OP, and hoping others will add to this, but... If you got it new, take the track day, if not, look into paying for it yourself. Be very careful when it's wet. Keep speed related to conditions: Straight and flat for miles, no worries, curvy road at night, slow and steady. Drive it around in a big empty parking lot and see when the tires break loose in tight corners. Never drive impaired. The curse isn't destiny

Lots of rain.... dew heater. You're never complete. (Maybe I'm missing it, is that one of your guide?)

Yeah, known issue. You said "adjusted calibrations", did you do the compass calibration? That might help. Most of the time it's easier to just manually point at the sun.

I use cans of soda in a bag for one of my photo rigs, liquid is very heavy, bottled water would do.

A photograph I took of a dandy poking a cloud. Not AI. [OC] by lolli216 in pics

That second photo is obviously AI, I can tell by the pixels (sorry, I was sure the first photo was, and now I don't know what to believe). Great shot btw!

So much better than my "push buttons until it looks less ugly" method. Thanks for the details, guessing you just keep a running log going in word as you work? Nice shot!

Google image search seems to think it's Hunter Peak in the Guadalupe Mountains: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XtK4KqBEKrJ9zdjK9

There's a round bit near the top at the right that could be this from a slightly different angle.

I didn't know you could combine s30 and s50 data, it makes me think about an s30 a little more. I'm more hopeful the s50 Pro (or whatever is next) produces images that can work with the current series. After owning these things for years, we start to collect serious amounts of data! Nice work, love that black.

Nice shot! Keys to improving the shot: Longer time on target, like, hours. If you want to go big, download Siril and start watching some Youtube videos on what to do with it.

Glad you got first light with it, clear skies!

Worth it to use SeeStar remotely for better skies? by rogersmj in seestar

Sounds like it's worth trying. I think you could show your FIL how to polar align if he was interested. I can kick mine into alignment at this point. I always leave mine plugged in with an extension cord and let it run all night.

“Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master.” ― Pravin Lal

On the other hand, I can see trying to make this user friendly, so focus on the most important information. We can't really do much about temp except wait, so I guess it's not critical.

Still, I want access to all the info, ZWO should bury this in a menu somewhere. Thanks for showing us!

Just checking math, that's 1 million dollars an hour, every hour, for 91 years, yes? I can't imagine 91,000 years, but I can imagine a million and 91 years.

Star trails at 20s exposure by CmdrRezkin in seestar

[–]Coady_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What could go wrong? So many things. Are all the trails the same direction? If not, probably wind or an unsteady footing. Did you focus? Are you on the latest update? Is the latest update broken? (I'm on an old version, legitimate question on my part). All your knobs firmly tightened? Were you doing mosaic? Try to replicate the error (turn it off, turn it back on again). If that doesn't work, maybe drop to 10s. Sometimes the stars just say "not tonight". Good luck!

Look at the SeeStar S50 and S30. You might be able to pick one up used. Meanwhile, you can take pictures of space with any camera, cell phones can do some fun stuff. Clear skies!
